Creative Lead at Girl Effect

Posted on Fri 19th Jul, 2024 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (0 comments)

Girl Effect is a creative non-profit organisation empowering girls to change their lives. Started by the Nike Foundation, we are experts in media, mobile, brand and international development: a unique mix of skills that we use to solve global problems in a different way.

We work across the world in the places where girls are marginalised and vulnerable. We create for young people in ways they love and interact with. And it's all delivered through the media and mobile tech they use every day – from apps that build skills, to TV dramas that explore vital issues, to magazines written by girls.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Creative Lead

Location: Nigeria

Context of the Role

  • We are looking for someone to lead the design and delivery of content, products, and branded experiences for adolescent girls and young women in Nigeria.
  • The role will report directly to the Program lead, Nigeria and work closely with the global Create team at Girl Effect.
  • The role requires in-depth collaboration with both internal technical experts and functions, and best-in-class external expertise - designers, filmmakers, technologists, content creators and producers - within Nigeria’s ever-evolving media landscape.
  • The Creative Lead will deliver the brand experience that millions of adolescent girls and young women from vulnerable backgrounds want, love and need when it comes to their health, education and skilling choices.

Responsibilities

  • You’ll need to make sure the Nigerian Create function is using the right people, processes and principles to produce great results, guiding and inspiring teams along the way.
  • In this context, the role will need to be able to move, sometimes rapidly, from detailed, hands-on interrogations of scripts or product features to high-level discussions on the strategic direction of our work.
  • The Creative and Content lead is a mediator and translator: translating complex human behaviors into blueprints for achievable products and ideas, ensuring the right channels, formats and creative concepts are used.

You responsibilities on a day to day basis may include:

  • Work with a dedicated in-house creative team and external suppliers to ensure that engaging, strategically relevant content is regularly being developed and delivered across all of the brand’s touchpoints  - social media, communities, analogue and digital media
  • Building on and evolving innovative ways in which to create and deliver content and product experiences that will deliver on the goals of the Country Brand and our Nigeria country strategy.
  • Oversee the Brand, Content and Product Creation Process for the Nigeria brand and any other products- working with technical experts and creators both in-house and out-sourced to create scripts, casting ideas, frameworks, and treatment designs that ensure that we are helping adolescent girls and young women from vulnerable contexts discover life-changing ways in which to navigate the complex challenges and opportunities they face
  • Own the annual budget for Creative delivery in Nigeria - supporting the Program lead in Nigeria in collaboration with the Programs team in initial budget creation, forecasts, and changes.
  • Lead the procurement and/or tender processes for external content creators and producers
  • Actively problem-solving and fire-fighting on production timelines, conflicting priorities, and external factors - ensuring Girl Effect processes are followed and streamlined
  • Work closely with our safeguarding team to ensure safeguarding measures and youth participation efforts are integrated into the production process and/or the product campaign
  • Work closely with the Marketing (Audience Acquisition) team to ensure we meaningfully reach and grow our  audiences.
  • Ensure timeline management of the entire production process is done in a way that all stakeholders are sighted, and that pressure on delivery is minimized.
  • Working closely with the global Create team and technical experts to evolve the content offerings to ensure they are delivering on key annual strategic goals and funder objectives. Key stakeholders include those working in Social & Behaviour Change Communication, Gender, Youth Participation, and Safeguarding.
  • Understanding the learnings and data presented by the Impact team, and working with the Programme team and technical experts to improve the brand’s creative products and content basis this - being a key part of the MERL (monitoring, evaluation and learning) process

Who you are:

  • An inspiring leader
  • An obsessive maker
  • A creative and flexible thinker
  • A relentlessly curious explorer
  • A collaborator and communicator
  • A cheerleader for the power of digital technologies
  • A natural empath who never forgets human needs and desires
  • A strategic thinker
  • A tech enthusiast and digital native
  • Must understand the culture, population and target audience
  • Must understand the media landscape in Nigeria
  • Demonstrated experience as a content creator in the Nigerian context with global experience
  • Must have extensive networks in the Nigerian creative market
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Work Experience & Education

  • 8-10 years of experience in Creative Strategy and/or Video Production. Digital content production is important to have.
  • 5+ years of experience directly managing members of creative teams, helping them bring concepts to life, refining and evolving them
  • Strong interest and knowledge about content and trends across digital, movies, TV, series, short and long form content
  • An excellent portfolio that demonstrates deep integrated thinking and strong brand building capabilities, with an emphasis on video content
  • Strong current working relationships within the Nigerian creative community
  • Ability to interact meaningfully with people of diverse backgrounds, personalities, and expertise (e.g. programme leads in Nigeria, subject matters experts in Kenya, creative executives in India and internal functions in UK), backed by data when possible
  • Should be excited by technology and exploring content through products like chatbots, communities, blogs, etc.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment while delivering outstanding results
  • Experience working with a diversity of cultures and a proven sensitivity to the challenges of low-income and marginalized populations.
  • Verbal and written proficiency in English is required; proficiency in one or more other local languages strongly preferred.
