Job Summary
We are in search of an innovative, creative, self-motivated and dynamic Data Optimization Assistant who will collaborate technically with Lagos State to implement an expanded scope of the Group ANC approach.
The incumbent will assist with providing technical assistance to Lagos State to scale up the GANC model of ANC service delivery to additional health facilities, with the goal of strengthening PHC systems, improving RMNCAH service delivery and uptake of the prioritized Maternal & Neonatal Health (MNH) innovations along the RMNCAH continuum of care layering on the G- ANC/PNC model to reduce maternal mortality. The project will be implemented in 67 Primary Health Care facilities across the 20 LGAs of Lagos.
Specific duties & responsibilities
The Data Optimization Assistant (DOA) will work in the Lagos GANC implementation sites and will perform the following data management functions;
Ensure that all ANC services in the assigned health facilities are routinely documented in the appropriate NHMIS tools/registers by designated facility staff.
Mentor facility staff on proper data documentation and reporting in all RMNCH-related NHMIS tools and supplementary tools.
Support high quality data recording and reporting with spot-checking to monitor for gaps in data quality
Collate weekly site reports and routinely verify reports generated against source documents and report challenges to the supervising officer where necessary
Support facility records staff and ANC service providers in monthly data collation and validation meetings and support them to use their data for informed decision making.
Support health facilities to collate and enter data into the project monthly summary form (MSF) monthly.
Participate in weekly and monthly data review meetings to provide implementation updates on project activities across assigned PHCs under his/her purview.
Ensure that there is no stock out of data documentation and reporting tools by liaising with relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
Address any other data issues as they present on the field and escalate to the M&E Lead as appropriate.
Support quarterly DQA sessions and implementation of data quality improvement (DQI) plans based on DQA reports at the assigned facilities
Key Performance Indicators:
Data Completeness: Complete and up-to-date documentation of program data on service delivery registers and reporting and recording tools,
Data Accuracy: Accurate data documentation into all service delivery tools; registers, forms and reporting.
Data Timeliness: Timely data reporting and submission of MSF to the DHIS and M&E lead.
Qualifications and Experience
Should possess at least a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree or higher would be an added advantage.
2 - 3 years previous experience in data collection, research, or fieldwork activities preferred.
Strong understanding of NHMIS data tools and reporting processes
Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with data collection tools or software
Conversant with the use of Microsoft Office Applications – MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English as well as presentation skills.
Be resident in LGA of concern in Lagos State and possess good knowledge of the terrain.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while working in fast-paced environments.
Demonstrated diligence and commitment in delivery of assigned deliverable (Added advantage).
