Job Description
The project is aimed at supporting stabilization, local justice and SGBV prevention through broadening inclusion, accountability and managing tensions to reduce violence in Zamfara and Kaduna states. This will be achieved through;
Inclusive participation of community groups in alternative dispute resolution and local justice initiative processes through strengthening community capacities for resolving past and emerging disputes while ensuring that local justice mechanisms provide opportunities for survivors and excluded groups to seek redress and be part of decision-making processes,
Providing marginalized groups, including women, their leaders, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) with opportunities and platforms to make their voices heard and advocate for their concerns to be addressed.
Creating a favourable environment for women and other vulnerable groups by dealing with and preventing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
International Alert has developed a safe space curriculum manual for facilitator’s guide which needs to be adapted to Hausa local language to enable users effectively use the document in the communities where we work.
Scope of Work
In adherence to gender and culture sensitivity, translate the entire document from English Language to Hausa Language.
Maintain the original meaning, tone and intent of the document while translating.
Adhere to accuracy, cultural sensitivity and appropriate language as used in the translated document.
Proofread and edit the translated document to eliminate any errors and inconsistencies, wrong translation or abusive language.
Deliver the translated document in the specific format within the agreed timeline.
Use age appropriate, user friendly and easily and generally understood Hausa language.
Collaborate closely with GESI Officer and Project Manager in carrying out task.
Ensure that Intellectual property rights for images and other materials to be used is respected.
All pictures, language, information must adhere to culture and religious context of North-west Nigeria.
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum qualification - BSc in Literature, English and BSc or advanced degree in Hausa Linguistics.
Progressive work, and familiarity working with International Organisations and understanding of instructions.
Excellent understanding of English and Hausa Languages.
Proven ability/records to translate standard documents fit for communication and education purposes.
Excellent written and spoken English language skills and ability to communicate in Hausa language is compulsory.
Competence:
Good communication skills.
Use of software including adobe, Canva, Pixel Lab but not limited.
Strong facilitation skills.
Proficient in computer skills.
Confidentiality:
The consultant is expected to treat all documents and information provided for this assignment with utmost confidentiality and not to disclose any sensitive information to third parties without prior authorization.
Ownership of Materials:
Upon completion of the assignment and full payment, the translated versions of the policy brief will be the property of International Alert, and the consultant will have no further claim to the materials.
Timeframe:
The date for this assignment is expected to be between 12th - 25th July 2024.
Salary
Fees will be subject to negotiation.
