Job Title: Gender and Safeguarding Officer
Location: Maiduguri - Borno / Damaturu - Yobe

About the Job
The Gender and Safe guarding Officer will see to the implementation and monitoring of programs ensuring that identified protection needs, including an Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) approach, are adequately addressed.
Provide policy guidance and operational support to GWQ and partners on all protection related issues.
He/she will also Promote a safe environment for children and young people, to know the contact details of relevant statutory agencies e.g.
Children's Social Work Services (CSWS), Police, Local Safeguarding Children Board, and the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) for allegations against staff.
Main Responsibilities
The Gender and Safeguarding officer has the following key responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and regularly review the organization's gender equality and safeguarding policies and procedures.
Identify and build the capacity of staff and volunteers on gender equality, diversity and inclusion, and safeguarding best practices.
Coordinate the integration, implementation, and assist in the monitoring and evaluation of gender transformative programing.
Serve as the main point of contact for reporting and responding to any safeguarding concerns or incidents.
Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential safeguarding risks.
Promote a culture of dignity, respect, and accountability throughout the organization.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of gender equality and safeguarding measures.
Represent the organization externally on gender and safeguarding issues as needed.
Collaborate with other teams and functions to integrate gender and safeguarding considerations into all aspects of the organization's work.
Produce a monthly report on the development of gender Equality and safeguarding work.
Perform other functions as assigned to her by her Line Manager
Qualification and Experience
B.Sc / HND in Gender Studies, Social Sciences or related field.
Master’s Degree in above fields is an added advantage.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience in gender transformative programming and mainstreaming preferably in a humanitarian and/or development context.
Knowledge and Skills:
Proven capacity of management, leadership, and teamwork.
Availability and Quality Assurance
Good negotiation skills
Knowledgeable and Vast experience in gender transformative programming and mainstreaming
Strong knowledge in gender transformative programming and mainstreaming
Productivity and Efficiency
The ability to multitask.
Adequate problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational skills.
Effective communication skills in English and Hausa
Excellent reporting skills
Excellent communication, diplomatic skills, and writing skills
Computer proficiency (word, excel and internet)
Good analytical skills, at ease with figures and date.
