The Workshop Manager (Wood and Metal) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality wood and metal products.
This role involves managing staff, maintaining equipment, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and meeting production targets.
The Workshop Manager will also be responsible for coordinating with other departments to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met.
Develop and implement production schedules to meet project deadlines.
Monitor and manage inventory levels of raw materials and supplies, placing orders as necessary.
Supervise, train, and evaluate workshop staff, including carpenters, metalworkers, and other production personnel.
Foster a positive and collaborative working environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.
Ensure all team members are adhering to safety protocols and company policies.
Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure products meet required specifications and standards.
Conduct regular inspections of finished products and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Ensure all workshop equipment and machinery are properly maintained and serviced regularly.
Coordinate repairs and replacements of tools and machinery as needed to minimize downtime.
Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations within the workshop.
Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to ensure a safe working environment.
Monitor and control production costs to stay within budgetary constraints.
Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures without compromising on quality.
Collaborate with other departments, such as design, procurement, and logistics, to ensure seamless project execution.
Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and address any concerns.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or any related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a workshop management role, preferably in wood and metal production.
Proven experience in managing teams and production schedules.
Strong background in quality control and health and safety regulations.
Required Skills:

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Proficient in using workshop tools and machinery for wood and metal production.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems efficiently.
Knowledge of inventory management and cost control practices.
Working Conditions
The role involves working in a workshop environment, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required to meet production deadlines.
