Job Title: Dedicated First Aider / Medic

Job Summary
The Site Medic / Dedicated First Aider will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical support and emergency care to all personnel on the construction site.
This role includes immediate response to medical emergencies, administering first aid, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
The Site Medic will also promote overall health and safety awareness and provide ongoing health education to site employees. He will also ensure that all injuries and illnesses are promptly attended to and that appropriate medical care is provided or facilitated.
In addition, he will be responsible for maintaining first aid supplies, keeping accurate records, and promoting health and safety awareness on site.
Key Responsibilities
Respond promptly to all medical emergencies and provide immediate first aid treatment for any injuries or illnesses occurring on the site.
Monitor the condition of individuals who have received treatment until further medical help is available if necessary
Assess the severity of injuries and decide on the need for further medical assistance or hospital transfer.
Call emergency services if required and assist paramedics on their arrival.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies related to first aid and medical emergencies.
Conduct regular checks of first aid equipment and supplies, ensuring they are fully stocked and compliant with health and safety standards.
Prepare detailed incident reports including detailed logs and submit them to the Site Manager/Safety Officer.
Promote health and safety awareness among site workers, emphasizing the importance of reporting injuries and near-misses.
Participate in site safety inspections and risk assessments.
Assist in developing and implementing health and safety protocols and emergency response plans.
Identify potential hazards and recommend improvements to site safety practices.
Work closely with the Site Manager, Safety Officer, and other relevant personnel to enhance site safety and respond to emergencies.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and company policies related to medical care and emergency response.
Conduct regular inspections of first aid equipment, medical supplies, and emergency kits, ensuring they are fully stocked and functional.
Conduct health and safety training sessions for site personnel, including first aid training and health awareness programs.
Encourage a healthy work environment by promoting good hygiene, hydration, and ergonomic practices among site workers.
Promote wellness initiatives and encourage healthy lifestyle practices among site employees.
Qualifications and Experience
Valid certification as a paramedic, nurse, or equivalent medical professional. Certification in first aid, CPR, and AED use from a recognised provider
Previous experience as a first aider/ Medic preferably in a construction or industrial setting.
Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and medical emergency procedures.
Any additional health and safety training or emergency medical response training / qualifications will be an advantage.
Skills:
Strong assessment and decision-making skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to maintain a calm and professional demeanor while providing care.
Ability to perform physical tasks associated with first aid, such as lifting or moving injured individuals.
Working Conditions:
The role involves working on a construction site, which may include exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, dust, and hazardous materials.
The site medic must be available during all working hours on site and may be required to work overtime in case of emergencies.
