Job Title: Agronomist

Location: Ozuaha - Ikwerre LGA, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

• As an Agronomist at Zubara Farm Village, you will play a critical role in optimizing our farming practices and ensuring the health and productivity of our crops.
• You will be responsible for conducting research, developing strategies, and implementing techniques to improve crop yields and soil health.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct soil, crop, and water analysis to determine nutrient levels and other factors affecting crop health.
• Develop and implement crop management plans, including irrigation, fertilization, pest, and disease control.
• Monitor and evaluate crop performance and make recommendations for improvements.
• Advise on best practices for sustainable agriculture and soil conservation.
• Conduct field trials and experiments to test new crop varieties and farming techniques.
• Collaborate with farm managers and other staff to ensure the successful implementation of agronomic practices.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in agricultural science and technology.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Soil Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a commercial farming setting.
• Strong knowledge of crop production, soil science, and sustainable farming practices.
• Proficient in the use of agricultural software and tools for data collection and analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Willingness to work in a rural setting and adapt to varying work conditions.
