Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales and Business Development Manager to spearhead our sales initiatives and expansion strategies for the Save80 Clean Cook Stove project in Nigeria.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, developing innovative business models, and expanding our market presence while fostering strong customer and partner relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership and Strategy:
Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies for Save80 stoves across northern states and the broader Nigerian market.
Set and achieve ambitious sales targets, continuously monitoring and optimizing performance.
Build and lead a high-performing team of sales agents, providing mentorship and guidance.
Business Development and Expansion:
Spearhead the expansion of the Save80 cookstoves project throughout Nigeria.
Develop innovative business models, including sales through banks and microfinance institutions.
Identify and pursue new market opportunities and strategic partnerships.
Relationship Management:
Acquire, maintain, and grow relationships with local sales partners and networks.
Negotiate conditions and contracts with partners and stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with Production, Marketing, and Monitoring & Evaluation units to ensure alignment of strategies and initiatives.
Operational Management:
Demonstrate hands-on leadership in operational tasks such as hiring local warehouses and establishing business partnerships.
Oversee the efficient distribution and logistics of Save80 stoves.
Financial Acumen:
Develop and manage sales budgets and forecasts.
Work with micro-credits and understand cash flow management in the context of sales to low-income groups.
Market Intelligence:
Conduct market research and analysis to inform sales strategies and identify emerging trends.
Stay abreast of competitor activities and industry developments.
Reporting and Analytics:
Provide regular, detailed reports on sales activities, performance metrics, and market trends to senior management.
Utilize data analytics to drive informed decision-making and strategy refinement.
Qualifications and Experience
A strong University Degree in Business / Marketing, or a related field. An advanced degree is an advantage.
Minimum of 5 years of corporate B2B and B2C direct selling and sales management experience in related industries.
Proven track record in business development, particularly in sales to low-income target groups.
Demonstrated experience working with intermediaries and associations to expand market reach.
Practical experience with micro-credits and cash flow management.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Ambitious and performance-driven personality with a passion for sales.
Willingness to relocate to Kano and work from there.
Deep motivation to contribute to the fight against climate change.
Business-fluent English is required. Proficiency in other local languages (e.g., Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, or Fulfulde) is a significant advantage.
Reporting Structure
You will report directly to the General Manager of Climate Mitigation Projects and the management team, partly based in Germany.
Working Hours
Standard full-time work hours are 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
Additional hours may be required to meet sales targets and could involve some weekend work.
All extra hours will be appropriately compensated.
