Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Nurse to join our team at Redeemers Health Village (RHV).
The Pediatric Nurse will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients, ensuring their physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met.
This role requires excellent clinical skills, empathy, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care:
Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients, including infants, children, and adolescents, in various clinical settings such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and emergency departments.
Conduct thorough assessments of pediatric patients, including health history, vital signs, growth and development milestones, and psychosocial factors.
Develop and implement individualized care plans for pediatric patients, addressing their unique physical, emotional, and developmental needs.
Medication Administration:
Administer medications and treatments to pediatric patients following established protocols and medication safety guidelines.
Educate patients and their families about medication administration, including dosage, side effects, and potential interactions.
Monitor patients for adverse reactions to medications and intervene as necessary to ensure patient safety.
Family Education and Support:
Provide education and support to pediatric patients and their families, empowering them to participate in their child's care and make informed healthcare decisions.
Offer guidance on child development, nutrition, immunizations, and injury prevention, promoting health and wellness within the community.
Advocate for the needs and rights of pediatric patients and their families, ensuring their voices are heard and respected in the healthcare setting.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, including physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and therapists, to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal outcomes.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, providing updates on patient progress, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
Participate in care conferences, rounds, and team meetings to discuss patient cases, share insights, and contribute to care planning and decision-making.
Documentation and Quality Improvement:
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR) or paper charts.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care, safety, and satisfaction, identifying areas for improvement and implementing evidence-based practices.
Stay abreast of best practices and evidence-based guidelines in pediatric nursing, seeking opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
Qualifications and Experience
Registered Nurse (RN) with valid licensure from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent degree, with specialized training or certification in pediatric nursing preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric nursing, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in pediatric nursing practices, including assessment, intervention, and education.
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to recognize and respond to changes in pediatric patients' conditions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with pediatric patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Compassion, empathy, and a child-centered approach to care, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for pediatric patients and their families.
Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice in pediatric nursing.
