African Natural Resources & Mines Limited (ANRML) was incorporated in 2012 as part of African Industries Group’s plan to embark on backward integration for its steel production. ANRML started its foray into mining with the acquisition ofa mining lease in Kaduna State. Subsequently, ANRML has also acquired multiple mining and exploration licenses for various minerals at over 15 sites, and exploration activities are being carried out.
An Engineering Draftsman plays a crucial role in the manufacturing industry by translating design concepts into detailed technical drawings and plans.
These drawings serve as blueprints for the production process, guiding manufacturers in constructing and assembling products accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Drafting and Design: Create detailed technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software based on rough sketches, specifications, and calculations provided by engineers or designers.
Dimensioning and Annotation:Ensure that drawings are accurate, complete, and adhere to industry standards and project requirements. Include the necessary dimensions, annotations, and specifications for manufacturing and assembly.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand design concepts, provide feedback on feasibility and manufacturability, and incorporate changes as required.
Material and Process Selection: Recommend appropriate materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes based on design requirements, cost considerations, and production capabilities.
Quality Control: Review and verify the accuracy of own work and that of others to ensure drawings are error-free and comply with organizational standards and specifications.
Documentation: Maintain a comprehensive record of drawings, revisions, and design changes. Organize and archive drawings for easy access and retrieval during the manufacturing lifecycle.
Technical Support: Provide technical support to production teams during the manufacturing process. Clarify drawings, resolve design-related issues, and propose solutions to improve efficiency and quality.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with advancements in CAD software, manufacturing technologies, and industry standards. Implement best practices and techniques to enhance drafting processes and productivity.
Skills and Qualifications
Education: Requires a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or related fields.
Experience: Previous experience as a draftsman in a manufacturing environment is highly beneficial. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is essential.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of engineering principles, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, sheet metal fabrication).
Attention to Detail: Ability to create accurate and detailed technical drawings with precision and clarity.
Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and convey technical information clearly.
Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and troubleshoot design-related challenges.
Organizational Skills: Capacity to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
