Job Title: Mining Site Manager
Location: North Central / North West - Nigeria

Overview
The Mining Site Manager will oversee the daily operations of our mining site, ensuring production goals are met efficiently and effectively.
This role combines operational management with technical expertise, emphasizing both the production of beryllium and the procurement of beryllium from the market.
The manager will also assist the MD in structuring the business and optimizing mining operations using advanced technologies and software.
Key Responsibilities
Operations and Production Management:
Oversee and manage daily mining operations to maximize production output of 100 tons/month.
Develop and implement strategic operational plans, schedules, and budgets.
Coordinate and supervise all mining activities, including but not limited to drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and other related processes.
Ensure the site operates in the right way, managing artisans to maintain high production output and prevent theft.
Implement advanced technologies and software to enhance mining operations.
Provide recommendations on the best place for mining and the best equipment for mining based on field data and advanced techniques.
Maintain site security to safeguard resources and equipment.
Procurement Management:
Lead the buying and procurement of beryllium from the market to meet production targets.
Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
Stay updated with market trends to make informed procurement decisions.
Ensure quality control and proper storage of procured beryllium.
Personnel and Resource Management:
Lead and manage a team of mining professionals and artisans.
Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to site staff.
Oversee the maintenance and optimization of mining equipment and resources.
Optimize resource utilization to reduce costs and increase productivity.
Implement team-building and conflict resolution strategies to maintain a productive work environment.
Technical and Geological Responsibilities:
Conduct geological surveys and field studies to locate and evaluate mineral deposits.
Collect and analyze rock, soil, and water samples to identify mineral composition and distribution.
Utilize geological mapping, remote sensing, and geophysical techniques to assess mining potential.
Analyze geological data using specialized software and tools.
Prepare detailed geological reports, maps, and cross-sections.
Estimate the size, shape, quality, and value of mineral deposits.
Develop and update resource models based on new data and exploration results.
Conduct feasibility studies to assess the economic viability of mining projects.
Plan and oversee drilling programs and other exploration activities.
Security and Theft Prevention:
Develop and implement strategies to prevent theft of materials by artisans.
Monitor and control site access and material flow to ensure accountability.
Suggest and enforce measures to safeguard production and prevent losses.
Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of mining activities and procurement documentation.
Report operational progress and issues to senior management and stakeholders.
Develop and present regular performance reports and KPIs.
Stakeholder Relations:
Liaise with government agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders.
Address and resolve any concerns or conflicts on-site.
Foster positive relationships with all involved parties.
Continuous Improvement and Professional Development:
Gather and analyze feedback from users to improve product and operations.
Implement changes based on feedback to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
Promote opportunities for professional development and training for staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related technical field.
Membership with NMGS or COMEG is an added advantage.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in mining operations and geological exploration, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Deep knowledge of mining processes, techniques, and equipment.
Excellent leadership and management skills.
Proven experience in procurement and market analysis.
Fluency in Hausa is essential.
Working Conditions:
Primarily on-site position.
Regular travel to remote locations may be required.
