Job Title: Chief Finance Officer (CFO)

Description
The Chief Finance Officer role is to focus on establishing the strategic financial direction of the company. By developing processes to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), the CFO can help advise the executive leadership in making sound financial decisions. The CFO also develops and manages the overall financial services of the company to include finance, budgets, and analysis to help the strategic direction of the company.
You will work closely with all departments and units in the business and manage day-to-day finance operations in addition to more standard accounting, taxation, and finance duties.
A love for number crunching, eye for details, keen interest in the tech environment is key, as well as being analytical, are therefore a must to excel in this role.
The individuals who will be hired at this position will be given a significant amount of equity given that the company is at ideation stage.
We are at a critical stage in our growth and have an urgent need for a Chief Finance Officer. Ideally, we want someone with previous startup experience who has experience in all phases of the design process.
Duties and responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Financial Services Department.
Contribute as a member of the Executive Management Team, providing long- and short-range goal setting and strategic direction for the organization.
Guide financial decisions and protect assets by establishing key performance indicators as well as monitoring internal controls.
Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives.
Work with executive leadership to help develop budgets, and to provide access to project finance information.
Maximize return, and limit risk on cash by managing cash flow, reviewing investments.
Final review of budgets developed by the financial team.
Oversee the completion of the final review and analysis of the financial statements/monthly reports prepared for management staff.
Prepare special reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing financial data, information, and trends.
Maintain department strength by managing and retaining employees.
Maintain results by coaching, counselling, and disciplining members of the financial services department, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Lead and manage month-end accounting processes in line with international accounting best practices.
Develop a robust budgetary framework, implement, and track the monthly, yearly budgeting process, to drive value within the business through margin enhancement, lower costs, and operational efficiencies in the budgeting process.
Manage relationships with bankers, auditors, and tax authorities.
Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certified Public Accountant designation is a prerequisite. ACCA, ACA
MBA or bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting preferred.
10+ years of financial analysis, progressive Accounting or FP&A experience from a Startup or high growth firm.
Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.
Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the corporate mission.
Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems.
Experience in managing balance sheet, commercial accounting, and corporate tax filing.
Experience in corporate tax filing, multi-year financial forecasting and working capital finance planning is an added advantage.
Strong understanding of business, accounting, management, and some experience of accounting principles for international structures is highly desirable.
Profound understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance across multiple jurisdictions
Proficiency in relevant tax software and accounting tools.
Excellent communication skills to convey complex tax concepts clearly.
Strong time management and organizational abilities to multitask.
Working conditions
This is initially an equity-only, 100% remote, part-time role (6-8 hours), and you'll be working with a collaborative international team.

The company is in its pre-seed with interest from few VCs once an MVP is made and possible grants from NEAR protocol.
This is a startup, there is no salary until we can raise money. Founders are open to team members having a main job until funding is secured.
Again, this is NOT A PAID Position; it is for equity in the company and arrears salary remuneration. Once we generate revenue or receive an investment, we can pay ourselves a salary.
All pending salary arrears will be prorated and paid upon funding.
