Job Title: Program Associate, AHD Care and Treatment Support

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • The AHD Care and Treatment Support Associate will play a vital role in providing technical assistance to the National AIDS and STDs Control Programme (NASCP) in enhancing community engagement and participation in Differentiated Services Delivery (DSD) for the AHD program and pediatric case-finding initiatives across health facilities in Nigeria.
  • This position requires a highly skilled individual with a strong background in program design, and implementation to support the project coordinator in designing operational systems, DSD models, and viable strategies aimed at increasing case finding, improving access to services, optimizing linkage and referral services, enhancing treatment adherence, promoting retention in care, and establishing robust mechanisms for tracking, monitoring, and reporting program data between facility and community components.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with the project coordinator and other stakeholders to design operational systems and DSD models tailored to the needs of different populations, including adults and children.
  • Assist in developing strategies to increase AHD case finding and improve access to services, particularly among underserved populations and key affected communities.
  • Assist the Project Coordinator in providing technical support deployment of strategies for the integration of AHD screening and Point of Care diagnosis into different non-conventional entry points for; newly initiated on ART, clients returning to HIV care, and those not virally suppressed.
  • Assist the Project Coordinator and project teams in designing AHD decentralization models to increase access to prophylaxis and treatment for opportunistic infections at non-traditional service delivery points.
  • Work with the Project Coordinator to support NASCP team and community stakeholders to implement client-centered approaches and peer support mechanisms.
  • Assist in designing mechanisms and technical guides for effective linkage models to ensure seamless access to care and support services, two-way referral services, triage, and follow-up systems for clients requiring specialized care between health facilities and communities.
  • Assist in developing technical guides for implementing innovative instruments and interventions to optimize adherence to treatment and retention of clients on care.
  • Assist the Project Coordinator in Identifying and leveraging existing community resources and networks to develop innovative approaches and support partners to address identified gaps in service delivery, and enhance service quality and reach.
  • Assist the Project Coordinator in developing a framework for tracking, monitoring, and reporting program data between facility and community components, ensuring data quality and accuracy.
  • Adapt standardized tools and indicators for data collection and analysis, collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the partners in creating platforms for program review, feedback management, and continuous improvement, fostering stakeholder collaboration and learning.
  • Work with the Project Coordinator in facilitating regular meetings, workshops, and forums to share experiences, best practices, and lessons learned.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in community engagement, program management, or public health, preferably in Nigeria.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing community engagement strategies in the health sector.
  • Strong understanding of Differentiated Services Delivery (DSD) models and their implementation in resource-limited settings.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community members, government officials, and NGO partners.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to travel frequently within Nigeria. Knowledge of social media platforms and tools to effectively communicate with communities.
  • Ability to analyse and report on engagement metrics and make data-driven decisions.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and the ability to engage with an array of audiences.
