Job Title: Payables / Payroll Accountant

Location: Lagos

Description

• We are looking for an experienced accountant to join our Finance and Accounting Department as a payables/payroll accountant.
• The payables/payroll accountant will be responsible for managing our accounts payable ledger, payroll ledger, bank reconciliation, accounts payable invoicing and data entry, and expense report handling, payroll deductions filing, tax filing, health insurance management and will report to the Business Manager.
• To be successful in the role, the individual must have excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyse financial reports and information, good understanding of the payables, payroll and fixed asset business process.

Responsibilities

• General ledger journal entries and credit card and bank account
• Maintain payables, payroll and fixed asset information by collecting, calculating and entering data into the accounting software
• Preparation of monthly account payables and payroll report
• Preparation of monthly account reconciliations
• Remit payroll deductions timely and liaising with tax officials
• Preparation of all statutory tax filings and timely returns of all transaction taxes
• Maintains and protects payroll and vendor operations by keeping information confidential
• Collaborate with team members to monitor assets disposal and movements
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
• Any other duty of similar responsibilities assigned from time to time

Requirements

• Proven experience in an accounting and/or auditing role
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
• Basic knowledge of payroll, payables, fixed assets business process and statutory obligations
• Awareness of business and economic trends
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
