Position Overview
The Senior Legal Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the organization’s compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
This role focuses on regulatory compliance, risk management, and internal auditing within the manufacturing sector.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in manufacturing and possess a deep understanding of the unique regulatory and operational challenges in this industry.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance:
Develop and implement compliance programs to ensure adherence to all relevant local, state, federal, and international regulations specific to the manufacturing industry.
Monitor changes in laws and regulations, and update policies and practices accordingly.
Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify potential areas of vulnerability and risk.
Risk Management:
Identify, assess, and prioritize risks associated with manufacturing operations, including operational, financial, legal, and reputational risks.
Develop risk mitigation strategies and action plans to address identified risks.
Coordinate with various departments to ensure risk management practices are integrated into daily operations.
Internal Audit:
Plan and execute internal audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, processes, and systems within the manufacturing operations.
Prepare audit reports detailing findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
Collaborate with management to implement and monitor corrective actions.
Legal Advisory:
Provide legal advice and support to various departments, ensuring all activities comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents pertinent to manufacturing operations.
Manage litigation, disputes, and other legal matters as they arise.
Policy Development and Training:
Develop and update internal policies and procedures to promote compliance and mitigate risks.
Design and conduct training programs to educate employees on compliance, risk management, and internal audit practices.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as a liaison between the company and regulatory authorities, external auditors, and other stakeholders.
Represent the company in regulatory and compliance-related discussions and negotiations.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Law
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in compliance or risk management (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Risk Manager (CRM)).
Experience with international manufacturing regulations and standards.
Proficiency in using compliance management and auditing software.
Experience:
8-10 years of experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, and internal auditing within the manufacturing industry.
Proven track record of managing complex compliance and risk management programs in a manufacturing setting.
Skills and Competencies:
Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, regulations, and standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
