Exotic Pet Cafe is a luxury pet store that provides people with a unique experience where they can explore different kinds of exotic animals. EPC provides different types of services from pet sales, veterinary clinics, grooming, pet boarding, pet food, and accessories.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Pet Handler

Location: Lekki, Lagos

Summary

• The Pet Handler is responsible for ensuring the well-being, care, and safety of animals within the pet store. This role involves handling and caring for pets and assisting with grooming and boarding services.
• The Pet Handler will work closely with the Sales Manager, Vet Doctor, Groomer, and Cleaners to provide high-quality care and service to the pets and their owners.

Key Responsibilities
Animal Care:

• Provide daily care for pets, including feeding, watering, exercising, and monitoring their health.
• Clean and sanitize the boarding space, ensuring a hygienic and comfortable environment.
• Observe and report any signs of illness or distress to the Vet Doctor.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the Vet Doctor.

Handling and Restraint:

• Safely handle and restrain animals during grooming, veterinary procedures, and other activities.
• Ensure the safety and comfort of animals during interactions with staff and customers.
• Assist the Groomer and Vet Doctor with handling animals during grooming sessions and medical examinations.

Grooming Assistance:

• Support the Groomer in bathing, brushing, and trimming pets.
• Help maintain grooming tools and equipment in clean and working condition.
• Calm and comfort pets during grooming procedures.

Boarding Services:

• Manage the boarding facility, ensuring pets are comfortable and well-cared for during their stay.
• Follow specific care instructions provided by pet owners.
• Monitor the behavior and health of boarded pets and report any concerns to the Vet Doctor.

Customer Service:

• Assist customers with boarding check-in and check-out procedures.
• Address customer inquiries and concerns regarding their pets' care and well-being.

Facility Maintenance:

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pet handling areas.
• Ensure all pet care supplies are stocked and readily available.
• Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.

Team Collaboration:

• Work closely with the Sales Manager, Vet Doctor, and Groomer, to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve operations and pet care services.
• Support team members during busy periods and collaborate on special projects or events.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; certification in animal care or a related field is a plus.
• Proven experience working with animals, preferably in a pet care or veterinary environment.
• Strong understanding of animal behavior and handling techniques.
• Ability to handle animals of various sizes and temperaments safely.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for animal welfare and providing high-quality pet care.
• Physical ability to lift and carry animals, clean facilities, and perform other manual tasks.

Working Conditions

• Hands-on work with animals in a pet store environment.
• Full-time position with potential for extended hours during peak periods, including weekends and holidays.
• Exposure to various animal allergens and cleaning chemicals.

Salary
N50,000 - N80,000 monthly.
