Job Title: Strategic Healthcare Business Development Manager (Grants and High-Level Growth)
Location: Lagos
Purpose of the Position
A Strategic Business Development Manager at ACG is essential in identifying and securing funding and business opportunities to support our mission.
This role involves strategic planning, proposal development, prospect research, and managing complex proposals.
The Manager will collaborate with technical and program staff to ensure the success and responsiveness of proposals across various donors. Responsibilities include supporting donor relations, pursuing new opportunities, managing proposal development, and advising on partnership decisions.
The Manager will strategically engage with donors, analyze opportunities, and maintain regular communication with country offices.
They will monitor competitor activities and leverage analytical insights to enhance proposal responsiveness. We seek a creative, proactive professional with a passion for turning ideas into action through collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
Proposal Management:
Lead the proposal process from start to finish and act as the primary contact for complex proposal teams.
Define proposal requirements, adapt standard operating procedures, and ensure alignment with bid demands.
Develop strong value propositions, theories of change, and measurable objectives for proposals.
Capture and present existing proposal content, donor feedback, and program results.
Draft proposal content for technical and program staff review.
Facilitate internal and donor proposal debriefs and transition awarded projects to the implementation team.
Support the development and refinement of new business development guidance, tools, and processes.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as a liaison between select technical areas, supporting strategy and pursuit of targeted opportunities.
Develop and manage country office or technical area pipelines and positioning.
Lead relationship development with external donors and create compelling pitches for partnerships with ACG.
Represent ACG at external events and establish potential partner contacts.
Maintain communication with country offices, program, and technical staff.
Participate in pre-bid proposal preparation and partner negotiations.
Work with HR to recruit and identify key personnel.
Requirements
A Master’s Degree or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
At least 5 years of successful business and proposal development experience for international donors.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to lead multiple bid processes and cross-functional teams.
Superior analytical and organizational skills.
In-depth knowledge of diverse donor agencies’ technical and business priorities.
Proven skills in writing and editing proposal content with evidence of successful wins.
Experience in capture planning, storyboarding sessions, and content sign-off.
Working knowledge of digital solutions and technology in the health sector.
Meticulous attention to detail and proofreading skills.
Language and Additional Requirements:
Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and government regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior managers, employees, the general public, and clients/partners.
