The Role

• Flutterwave is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Risk Modeling and Decisioning to join our dynamic team. As a leading player in the fintech industry, we are dedicated to revolutionizing financial services through innovative technology and data-driven solutions.
• The Manager will play a crucial role in developing and implementing risk/compliance/fraud analytics models and designing decisioning strategies and processes to optimize our risk management capability and drive business growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and enhancement of risk modeling and decisioning strategies across multiple products and channels.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Science, Product Management, and Engineering to define requirements, collect data, and implement models into production systems.
• Analyze and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform risk management decisions and strategies.
• Monitor the performance of risk models and decisioning strategies, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization.
• Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to risk management and scoring methodologies.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of risk analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Communicate key findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders through clear and concise presentations and reports.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business objectives and develop risk management solutions that balance risk mitigation with business growth objectives.
• Support regulatory compliance efforts by ensuring that risk scoring models and decisioning strategies adhere to relevant regulations and guidelines.
• Drive initiatives to automate and streamline risk management processes, leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning techniques where applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in risk management, analytic modeling, credit/fraud scoring, or related fields within the financial services industry.
• Strong technical skills including proficiency in statistical analysis, data mining, and programming languages such as Python, or SQL.
• Experience with machine learning techniques and tools for building predictive models (e.g., logistic regression, decision trees, random forests, gradient boosting).
• Familiarity with risk management frameworks, methodologies, and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to effectively manage and mentor a team of analysts.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and drive results through influence and persuasion.
