Job Summary

• We are looking for a Head of Compliance & Legal who will be responsible for championing a culture of integrity and excellence by meticulously overseeing adherence to ethical, legal, and internal standards.
• The Head of Compliance & Legal will be responsible for providing compliance and legal services of the highest professional standards that will drive the seamless operation of the compliance framework and spearhead the dynamic compliance strategy for VendorCredit Limited.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop annual program for the compliance unit, clearly defining the plan, scope, and timeliness.
• Work with process owners and heads of departments to develop and update policies and procedures that align with VendorCredit, legal and regulatory requirements and best practices.
• Monitor and assess compliance to all existing policies, procedures and regulatory requirements while conducting risk assessment to identify areas of non-compliance and develop corrective actions.
• Work closely with the Human Resources department to develop and deliver continuous training programs to educate employees on compliance policies and procedures.
• Identify and document business risks and recommend to management on alternate actions to mitigate against the risks.
• Always ensure compliance with all required data protection legislations and other legal requirements as per the operating environment.
• Ensure a consistent compliance risk approach in the organization.
• Advise management on the company’s compliance with laws and regulations through detailed reports.
• Regularly audit company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks.
• Resolve employee concerns about legal and compliance issues with experience in disputes and litigation.
• Identify and appropriately report any compliance findings, prioritization, monitoring, and timely follow-up of relevant actions to mitigate key compliance risk.
• Cultivate, collaborate and maintain close relationships with respective internal stakeholders.
• Demonstrate interest in problem-solving by looking at the bigger picture and finding solutions by combining business and compliance perspectives.
• Provision of prompt legal advice as required on the Company’s legal/corporate structure, business, operations, and transactions.
• Liaising with the company lawyers to prepare, review, vet and negotiate Company’s agreements with third parties and other contract documentation to ensure the protection of the company’s interest and due compliance and conformity with all aspects of applicable Laws.
• Manage legal risk in order to make transactions viable and safe.
• Protect the integrity and reputation of the company.
• Keep abreast of trends/ development taking place in the capital market and power sectors.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law or any related field with at least 2 years experience in a corporate/commercial law firm.
• 5+ years of experience in compliance, internal audit, risk management, process mapping, or related areas
• 5 years of progressively increased compliance/audit/risk management responsibility, preferably in a Fintech/Financial Sector.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to interact with and manage messages to all management levels including Executives and operational levels.
• Ability to present key issues, concisely, succinctly, and in an engaging format with a clear flow of thought.
• Ability to identify risks and make recommendations within complex systems environments.
• Ability to drive continuous improvement processes that enhance efficiency and effectiveness of compliance risk management.
• Solid understanding of risk management and/or finance
• Analytical skills and detail-focused.
• Strong organizational and self-management skills
• Good MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills.
