Job Summary
We seek a dynamic Technical Services Manager to spearhead our team in providing top-notch technical support, maintenance, and repair services to our valued customers in the farm inputs and mechanical industry. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of our technical services department and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of technical professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
Maintain and monitor processes in respect of breakdown and performance. (Running hours; kW/t; capacity per hour against set targets. (KPI) React to variances.
Ensure the Health and Safety of all subordinates within Company guidelines and current legislation.
Ensure all functional management are aware of the correct codes of practice, both statutory and advisory, that govern accepted standards of safe operation at all premises
Safety measures in vehicle maintenance and upkeep, ensuring compliance with operational norms and safety measures.
To coordinate cooperation between the maintenance & machines unit and other departments to ensure smooth maintenance and upkeep work.
To delegate, arrange and guide staff to complete work tasks, track and supervise work progress.
Develop and execute strategic initiatives to optimize technical services operations, aligning them with the company's objectives and customer needs.
Develop and manage budgets and resource allocation for technical services, optimizing resource utilization to achieve departmental objectives while ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Regular site inspection and training, ensure full employee awareness of safe working practices and their role in maintaining the required standards. (ongoing exercise)
Through managers identify personnel training needs. Actively promote training and personal development on site. (Costs to be controlled within agreed budgets).
Ensure hygiene standards in all areas are maintained to the highest standards at a minimum above those required by BRC.
Through respective managers, ensure the safekeeping of all company agreements, financial instruments etc.
Ensure that vehicle fleet management routines are established and maintained, including appropriate management of Machine Operators.
Ensure that there is an efficient system in place for the monitoring of fuel purchase and consumption, services and repairs for vehicles and other machines (engines) and that the system is scrupulously applied and reviewed.
Educational Requirements
A Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Master's Degree in any relevant field of study is an added advantage
Experience:
At least 6 years of Technical Services management experience in the Agricultural or Technical industry or any other related industries.
Experience in maintenance and management of Machineries such as Tractors, Plough, Ridgers etc ( extensive familiarity in dealing with machineries)
Knowledge and Skills Acquisition:
The position requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 6 years of proven experience in Technical Services Management
Strong technical knowledge of farm inputs and mechanical equipment
Excellent technical services management skills
Ability to analyze and improve technical services efficiency
Strong leadership and management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and technical services software.
