Job Description
The Production Manager at our Cephalosporin Plant in Sagamu will oversee all aspects of the manufacturing process, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality cephalosporin antibiotics.
This role involves managing the production team, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning and Management:
Develop and implement production schedules to meet company goals and customer demands.
Monitor production processes to ensure optimal use of resources and adherence to timelines.
Adjust schedules and processes as necessary to accommodate changes in demand or production issues.
Quality Control:
Ensure that all production activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory standards.
Work closely with the quality assurance team to maintain high product quality.
Implement and monitor quality control procedures to prevent and address production defects.
Team Leadership and Development:
Manage, mentor, and develop the production team, including supervisors, operators, and technicians.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and training to enhance team skills and performance.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the production team.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Implement and monitor safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Conduct regular safety audits and address any identified issues promptly.
Resource Management:
Manage inventory of raw materials, equipment, and finished products.
Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of necessary materials.
Optimize the use of equipment and resources to minimize waste and reduce costs.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality.
Implement lean manufacturing techniques and other best practices to streamline production.
Collaborate with the engineering and R&D teams to develop and implement new production processes.
Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of production activities, including output, downtime, and quality issues.
Prepare regular reports on production performance for senior management.
Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory and company standards.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
Collaborate with other departments, such as quality assurance, maintenance, logistics, and sales, to ensure smooth operations.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to discuss production status, challenges, and strategies.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
In-depth knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements, and production processes for cephalosporins.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Proficiency in production planning and resource management software.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with lean manufacturing and process improvement methodologies.
Familiarity with ERP systems and production management software.
Working Conditions:
This position is based in Sagamu and may require occasional travel to other company sites or for training purposes.
The role involves working in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to chemicals and equipment noise.
