Job Summary
The Plumber is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of all plumbing systems within Redeemer’s Health Village.
This includes ensuring the efficient operation of piping, water supply, drainage systems, and other plumbing-related equipment.
The Plumber will work in compliance with safety standards and regulations, providing a safe and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Installation and Maintenance:
Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in healthcare environments.
Conduct routine inspections of plumbing systems and equipment to identify and address any issues promptly.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and reliability of plumbing systems.
Emergency Repairs:
Respond to plumbing emergencies such as leaks, blockages, and system failures promptly and efficiently.
Diagnose problems, determine the best solutions, and carry out necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all plumbing work is carried out in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Work closely with other members of the facilities management team to coordinate plumbing work with other maintenance and repair activities.
Communicate effectively with healthcare staff to understand and address their plumbing needs and concerns.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of all plumbing work, including inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
Prepare reports on the status of plumbing systems and any issues encountered for review by the Head of Facilities Management.
Tools and Equipment:
Use and maintain plumbing tools and equipment properly, ensuring they are in good working condition.
Order and manage plumbing supplies and materials as needed to ensure availability for maintenance and repair tasks.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Certification or vocational training in plumbing.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a plumber, preferably in a healthcare or similar environment.
Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and materials.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
Working Conditions
The Plumber will work in various areas of the healthcare facility, including patient care areas, mechanical rooms, and outdoor spaces.
May be required to work in confined spaces and at heights.
Must adhere to all safety and health regulations while performing duties.
May need to be on-call for emergency repairs outside of regular working hours.
