Job Description
The role holder will be responsible for securing capital for our real estate projects, sourcing, acquiring, and maintaining relationships with investors, and overseeing the retail commercial real estate finance strategy.
This is a senior-level position that requires a deep understanding of the financial markets, exceptional networking skills, and a strong background in business development from investment banking and asset management sectors.
Develop and execute effective retail real estate development capital raising and sales strategies that will deliver value to investors and the organization in line with the company’s growth goals.
Develop initial fund concept design and modeling, and market testing.
Leverage pre-existing industry network and relationships as well as build new ones to identify potential funding sources such as investors and strategic partners (fund managers, asset management companies, real estate developers, construction, and engineering companies).
Create and present/pitch compelling investor teasers, new fund marketing materials, business plan, financial models, and professional capital funding campaign on an ongoing basis to attract potential investors.
Proactively prospects/identifies financial advisors and asset management companies who are interested in exploring partnership with the company on real estate financing.
Act on behalf of the company in meetings and presentations with prospective investors and financial partners, negotiate, and close out on deals.
Lead on all aspects of capital-raising processes including valuation of real estate projects, investment memo preparation, due diligence, structuring, and negotiations, closing and post investment monitoring of deal performance.
Assemble due diligence information and respond to investor inquiries.
Manage investor and partner relations: maintain strong relationships and provide updates on investment performance.
Lead the charge in developing new investment strategies via pilots, programs, and initiatives.
Education / Qualification Required
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in any relevant field. MBA is desirable.
Seven years’ work experience and demonstrated success in investment banking and/or asset management firm is required.
Extensive experience in Fund investment sales, real estate financing, project analysis and management, cost and time projections, business development, and capital raising is required.
Proven track record of sales/fund raising, with solid experience of covering institutional clients in either buy or sell-side environments.
Successful experience in business development, initiating and closing deals.
Track record of personal initiative, strong work ethic, proactive setting and achieving goals, ability to work independently, and entrepreneurial leadership.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
Excellent deal execution and business development/origination skills are required.
Knowledge of commercial real estate and site selection process, preferably in a Retail Industry environment
Knowledge of capital investment decision-making with strong financial acumen
Excellent people skills, negotiation, and relationship-building skills (i.e., with brokers, asset/fund managers, developers, and cross functional teams).
Attention to detail with ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and deliver value quickly, with excellent organizational skills.
Highly motivated, self-starter, capable of working under minimal supervision with strong decision making, and creative thinking skills.
Confident communicator with outstanding written and verbal communication skills and strong executive presence.
Excellent financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
