Job Title: Dialysis Technician
Location: Mowe, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment. The Dialysis Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining dialysis equipment, monitoring patients during treatment, and ensuring the safety and comfort of patients throughout the dialysis process.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care:
Prepare patients for dialysis treatment, including measuring and recording vital signs.
Assess patients' physical and emotional status before, during, and after dialysis.
Monitor patients during treatment and respond to any alarms or adverse reactions.
Provide patient education regarding dialysis procedures and care.
Dialysis Treatment:
Set up, operate, and maintain dialysis machines and equipment.
Perform dialysis treatment according to established protocols and procedures.
Ensure proper functioning of dialysis machines by conducting routine checks and maintenance.
Administer prescribed medications and fluids during dialysis treatment as directed by medical staff.
Technical Duties:
Perform water quality testing and ensure that dialysis water treatment systems are functioning correctly.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with dialysis machines and equipment.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of dialysis treatments and patient information.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with nephrologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to dialysis patients.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing support and addressing concerns.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care planning.
Training and Development:
Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
Assist in the training and supervision of new dialysis technicians and other healthcare staff.
Stay updated on the latest developments in dialysis technology and treatment protocols.
Quality Improvement and Safety:
Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices in dialysis care.
Report and document any incidents, equipment malfunctions, or patient complications promptly.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma or Certification in Dialysis Technology from a recognized institution.
Current registration with relevant regulatory bodies.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a dialysis unit or similar healthcare setting.
Strong technical skills in operating and maintaining dialysis equipment.
Excellent patient care and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement.
