We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Location: Festac, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Head Chef / Kitchen Manager
Job Description
As a Kitchen Assistant at Mess-1 Restaurant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen.
Your responsibilities will include preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting the chefs in food preparation and cooking.
You will be a vital part of our team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality dishes to our customers.
Responsibilities
Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of ingredients including washing, peeling, chopping, and cutting vegetables and fruits.
Cooking Assistance: Support chefs in cooking and assembling dishes according to restaurant standards.
Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment by washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring and managing kitchen inventory, including stocking supplies and reporting shortages.
Waste Management: Dispose of kitchen waste appropriately and ensure the kitchen waste disposal area is clean.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure kitchen equipment is properly cleaned, stored, and maintained.
Compliance: Follow all food safety and hygiene standards as well as health and safety regulations.
Requirements
Education:
Minimum Requirement: Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.
Additional Training: Food safety and hygiene certification is a plus.
Experience:
0 - 5 years relevant work experience.
Preferred Experience: Previous experience working in a kitchen or restaurant environment is advantageous but not mandatory. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
Skills:
Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions accurately and ensure consistency in food preparation.
Time Management: Efficiently manage time to complete tasks promptly and support kitchen operations during busy periods.
Team Player: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and chefs.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
Adaptability: Ability to handle various kitchen tasks and adapt to changes quickly.
Other Requirements
Availability: Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Work Authorization: Must have legal authorization to work in Nigeria.
Personal Attributes: Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a passion for the culinary arts.
