Job Title: Senior Accountant

Job Summary

• We are seeking an experienced and committed accounting and finance expert to lead our organisation’s efforts in all areas of accounting and finance.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating financial strategy, developing departments, and recruiting team members that are needed to achieve the strategy, leading efforts on financing, monitoring financial performance and controlling financial risks, suggesting key measures for improvement to the executive team and managing cost.

Major Responsibilities

• Guide the accounting department in all accounting, financial and administrative disciplines and ensures accounting excellence, high productivity, and satisfaction in full specifications
• Define, optimize and implement standard accounting processes
• Ensure timely, accurate and justified accounts
• Monitor performance on accounting excellence and initiate corrective measures
• Prepare financial statements in line with FIRS
• Monitor cash flow, receivables, and payables
• Be the first point of contact for LIRS and FIRS related questions and audits
• Ensure close monitoring of the monthly overhead budget
• Ensure accounting excellence within area of responsibility
• Ensure appropriate staffing and training in conjunction with Human Resources
• Ensure the correct and full use of accounting enabling applications
• Ensure and provide timely responses to customer, vendor, colleagues’ generated emails or other documents/communication
• Ensure regular daily, weekly and monthly reporting to management
• Manage staff under his/her responsibility and tasks as assigned by management

Requirements

• B.Sc / HND in Accounting, Finance, and Business or Social Science with a minimum of 2.1/Upper Credit respectively.
• M.Sc / MBA will be an added advantage.
• Professional qualifications (ACCA. ICAN, etc.)
• Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in finance and accounting roles. 2 of which must be in supervisory positions.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Tax laws and financial regulations within the Oil & Gas and maritime sectors.
• Proficiency in data analysis, MS Office and ERP software.
• Commercial Acumen
• Demonstrate ability to provide financial advisory services
