Job Title: Chief Operating Officer
Location: Lagos

Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Execution:
Collaborate with the Executive Director and senior leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans, goals, and objectives aligned with the organization’s mission and vision.
Lead the development and execution of operational strategies, initiatives, and policies to support programmatic expansion, sustainability, and impact.
Ensure the efficient allocation of resources, budget management, and performance monitoring to achieve operational excellence and organizational success.
Program Management and Impact Assessment:
Oversee the management of programs and initiatives to ensure alignment with organizational goals, quality standards, and impact metrics.
Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure program effectiveness, outcomes, and community impact.
Collaborate with program managers, staff, and external partners to drive innovation, scalability, and continuous improvement in program delivery.
Financial Management and Sustainability:
Develop and manage the organization’s budget, financial controls, and reporting mechanisms to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with donor requirements.
Identify funding opportunities, diversify revenue streams, and cultivate relationships with donors, funders, and supporters to secure sustainable funding for programmatic activities and operational needs.
Monitor financial performance, analyze budget variances, and make recommendations for resource optimization, cost containment, and financial sustainability.
Human Resource Management and Organizational Development:
Provide leadership and oversight of human resources functions, including recruitment, training, performance management, and employee relations.
Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization and promote a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Develop talent pipelines, succession plans, and professional growth opportunities to build a high-performing and motivated team.
Governance and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with legal requirements, regulatory standards, and ethical practices governing nonprofit organizations.
Support the Board of Directors in governance activities, board development, risk management, and strategic decision-making.
Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, partners, and community members to enhance transparency, accountability, and trust in the organization.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
Minimum 7-10 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit organizations, with a focus on operational management, program development, and strategic planning.
Strong understanding of nonprofit governance, financial management, grant compliance, and fund development best practices.
Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities to engage diverse stakeholders and convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
Proven track record of leading and motivating teams, building collaborative relationships, and driving organizational change and growth.
Strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and decision-making abilities to address challenges, make informed choices, and seize opportunities for innovation and impact.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, with a demonstrated history of promoting a diverse and inclusive organizational culture.
Proficiency in financial modeling, budget analysis, data-driven decision-making, and performance measurement tools to assess organizational effectiveness and outcomes.
Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance standards affecting nonprofits and a commitment to upholding ethical principles and integrity in all organizational activities.
