Job Title: Facility Manager
Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance:
Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance programs to ensure the proper functioning of all equipment, systems, and structures within the facility.
Conduct regular inspections to identify areas of improvement and address maintenance issues promptly.
Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for repairs, renovations, and facility upgrades.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Enforce safety regulations and protocols to create a secure environment for employees, visitors, and contractors.
Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, implementing necessary measures to mitigate potential hazards.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to building codes and safety standards.
Budget Management:
Develop and manage the facility budget, tracking expenses and ensuring cost-effectiveness in all operations.
Negotiate contracts with service providers, ensuring competitive pricing and high-quality services.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements without compromising safety or quality.
Team Management:
Lead and supervise a team of maintenance staff, contractors, and other facility-related personnel.
Provide training, guidance, and support to team members, promoting a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Foster a positive workplace culture that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Space Planning and Utilization:
Optimize the layout and utilization of available space to meet the organization’s needs efficiently.
Collaborate with various departments to plan office relocations, expansions, and configurations.
Maintain accurate records of space allocations and assist in planning for future space requirements.
Environmental Sustainability:
Develop and implement eco-friendly initiatives to minimize the facility's environmental impact.
Evaluate and recommend energy-efficient technologies and practices to reduce utility consumption.
Monitor waste management processes and promote recycling and sustainability practices among staff.
Person Specification
Bachelor’s Degree in Facility Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience in facility management, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of building systems, equipment, and maintenance protocols.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Proficiency in budget management, vendor negotiations, and contract administration.
Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and codes pertaining to facility management.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing facility-related challenges.
Certification in Facility Management (CFM) or related professional certification is a plus.
