Job Title:Senior Compliance Officer
Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Job Purpose
The Senior Compliance Officer provides oversight of the compliance functions of the INTERSOS Nigeria Mission.
He/She is responsible for identifying and assessing areas of compliance risks; performing internal compliance audits; following up on recommendations of audits; communicating the importance of compliance to the relevant departments; developing and implementing awareness sessions addressing compliance and the code of conduct; implementing the Community/Complaint Feedback and Response Mechanism (CFRM); and supporting the senior management team to effectively incorporate the compliance requirements within system operations and programs.
Responsibilities
Management of Community/Complaint Feedback and Response Mechanism (CFRM), Especially on Sensitive Complaints in Compliance With INTERSOS Safeguarding Framework:
Ensure the Community Feedback and Response Mechanism are in place as per agency SOP.
Lead the investigation of sensitive complaints on staff/volunteers/partners/service providers, etc. in compliance with SoP Whistleblowing and Investigation.
Recommend complaint resolutions on the concerned parties based on investigation findings.
Identify root causes of those issues and recommend mitigation measures.
Manage the online complaint database in close cooperation with the Internal Auditor at HQ.
Internal Compliance Audit and Reporting Related to Compliance:
Conduct internal compliance audits (including but not limited to random checks on vendor screening, asset management, warehouse management, etc.).
Conduct spot checks where required.
Support in leading efforts to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies through training and awareness initiatives.
Coordinate reports such as the EFCC SCUML Report and EFCC Questionnaire spot checks and collaborate with relevant teams to address donor requests.
Support System Building for Enhancing Compliance:
Maintain the matrix on audit findings and recommendations.
Manage risk assessment activities and maintain the risk/audit register, collaborating closely with program and operations teams to implement findings effectively.
Follow up with relevant departments on enhancing measures to fulfil our pledges in audit reports, as well as requirements from our agency, donors, and relevant authorities.
Capacity Building:
Conduct staff training and briefing on relevant compliance issues.
Participate in Donor Meetings Concerning Fraud Prevention and Compliance Issues Where Required.
Essential Requirements
Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a humanitarian setting.
Degree in Social Science, Development, and similar discipline.
Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
Proficient in English, Hausa, and Kanuri both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group is desired.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
