Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

Description 

• A Kitchen Assistant, also known as a Kitchen Hand or Kitchen Porter, supports the smooth operation of a kitchen by performing various tasks. Here are the key duties and responsibilities:

Food Preparation:

• Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables.
• Prepare simple dishes under supervision, such as salads and sauces.
• Portion and pack food for service.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, and pans.
• Clean kitchen surfaces, equipment, and appliances.
• Ensure that the kitchen, storage areas, and garbage areas are kept clean and organized.

Inventory and Stock Management:

• Unpack and store deliveries of ingredients and supplies.
• Assist in managing stock levels and rotating stock to ensure freshness.
• Report any shortages or issues with inventory to supervisors.

Waste Management:

• Dispose of kitchen waste properly and efficiently.
• Recycle where possible and follow environmental and waste management policies.

Equipment Handling:

• Operate basic kitchen equipment such as mixers, blenders, and slicers.
• Ensure that equipment is cleaned and stored correctly after use.

Health and Safety Compliance:

• Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper hygiene practices.
• Wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment.
• Report any hazards, accidents, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.

Support Kitchen Operations

• Assist with setting up and closing down the kitchen at the start and end of each day.
• Help with food plating and presentation during busy service times.
• Run errands and perform other tasks as needed to support kitchen staff.
• Kitchen Assistants play a crucial role in ensuring that the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently, providing vital support to chefs and other kitchen staff.

Requirements

• Interested candidates should possess an SSCE qualification with 1 - 2 years work experience.

Salary
N40,000 - N50,000 monthly.
