The General Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing all technical aspects of the business, including the management of design, construction, logistics procurement, and budgets.
They ensure the efficiency of time, quality, and cost of assigned projects, while also planning and coordinating all technical aspects of the construction process.
Responsibilities
Plan, execute, and coordinate day-to-day work activities related to project planning and execution.
Address technical issues regarding all company projects and ensure deliverables are completed within the cost baseline.
Ensure compliance with all required statutory and regulatory conditions.
Proactively manage foreseeable project risks, mitigating as necessary, and manage changes to the project without unduly affecting stated objectives.
Supervise construction/project managers to monitor construction progress, worker productivity, and compliance with construction and safety codes.
Conduct timely valuation of contractor's work for payment purposes according to approved payment plans.
Oversee the preparation of BEME (Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation) and ensure quality control and specification monitoring.
Coordinate overall human and material resources on site and identify stakeholders to ensure satisfaction.
Liaise with contractors and sub-contractors, manage multiple contractors within and outside host communities, and handle contract disputes.
Collaborate with executive management and stakeholders to ensure all projects are completed on schedule, with excellent quality, and within budget.
Help create and implement systems and processes to guarantee cost and timeline efficiencies and reporting practices.
Ensure a strong reporting system as per requirements of executive management and track the same.
Examine risks and potentials for business opportunities, protect organization's value by keeping information confidential, and work to sustain profitability.
Ensure required Health, Safety & Environmental standards are adhered to onsite towards achieving zero accidents.
Lead regular project review meetings with senior management and stakeholders, oversee inventory & logistics operations, and perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Management Team.

Education, Experience & Skills
B.Eng in Civil Engineering. Additional Master in Project Management or equivalent will be preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 20 years cumulative experience, with at least 8 years in a Senior Management role (preferably in Nigeria).
Engineering project management experience.
Experience working in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
Manpower management and business development experience.

Strategic perspective and strong analytical skills.

Problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
