Greenlight Planet is a multinational, for-profit business that designs, distributes, and finances solar-powered home energy products, with an underserved population in mind: the 1.3 billion global consumers for whom the old-fashioned electrical grid is either unavailable or too expensive.
Over a decade in business, the company is now a leading global brand in emerging markets across Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Greenlight’s Sun King™ products provide modern light and energy to 26 million people in more than 40 countries and have sold over 10.5 million products worldwide.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Senior Graphics Designer, West & Central Africa
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
About the team
Sun King’s in-house Creative Team drives the strategy for and creates all of the company’s consumer, corporate, and internal marketing and brand related assets.
Ranging from customer-facing marketing materials, below- and above- the line campaign collaterals, to product images and videos, corporate presentations, the Sun King Creative team defines and upholds the company’s brand and produces all materials in more than 40 countries.
About the Role
We’re looking for a graphic design all-rounder with exceptional design skills, a creative flair, a passion for visual storytelling, and an ability to produce assets at speed.
In particular, you’ll work closely with our marketing team, who continuously explore how design can help Sun King’s work to transition diverse households and businesses based across west and central Africa, and beyond, onto clean, affordable solar energy.
You’ll continue to explore and experiment with how design can be used as a tool within storytelling, marketing, sales, and more.
The position holder will manage, mentor, and quality-assure the work of four graphic designers based in Nigeria and Togo.
At Sun King, designers work on a range of projects. You could be creating infographics to communicate how a new solar product works in practice one day, using our new visual brand to create flyers for our customers about sales promotions, working on designs to help fit out one of our 300+ shops, or developing publications for business clients that overview our range of products.
We operate an internal creative studio model, where briefs for design will come in from across the organisation.
No two days are the same, and you’ll manage a diverse set of graphics materials, for print and online, for various African markets including, but not limited to, Nigeria, Cameroon, Togo, and South Africa. You will work with our in-house creative assets traffic manager, who will manage timelines, deadlines, and creative workflows.
What you would be expected to do
Oversee the production of a variety of artwork and bring marketing concepts to life across, primarily, Sun King-branded and, occasionally, partner-branded channels.
From flyers, billboards, posters, shopfronts and shop interiors, illustrations, social media and web assets, oversee the work of our fast-growing West and Central Africa design team to ensure timely and quality graphic design production.
Provide guidance to other designers, of various experience levels, to drive the quality of the creative work produced, to foster innovative thinking, and deliver world-class work.
Take briefs from internal clients, questioning internal clients as appropriate. Discussing appropriate options for design and advising internal clients on the best use of graphics whilst adhering to brand guidelines.
Ensure that work goes out error-free and on time by engaging the team as necessary and making sure that the team is suitably trained and prepared to attend to creative and graphics briefs.
Work with sales, marketing, products, operations, and other teams to ensure that content is rigorously reviewed and feedback is attended to.
Ensure that your team follow the appropriate content production, content management, and sign-off process per Sun King’s standard operating procedures.
Gather, store, and make easily accessible professional-quality commercial, lifestyle, and ‘development impact’ photos from relevant markets.
Work with communications, investment, and Management teams to produce public-facing business collateral, such as ESG reports, annual reports, and investment PowerPoints.
Manage a bank of graphic design freelancers and work with agencies to produce quality work as needed.
You might be a strong candidate if you

Skilled in the complete Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and experience in After Effects and XD will be an advantage.
