About Monitoring Learning and Evaluation (MLE) Team:
The MLE team embodies the evidence-based nature of Evidence Action’s work and enables the organization to be a data-driven organization. The team provides services across Evidence Action Africa region in meeting the following outcomes:
Ensure all ongoing program monitoring needs are met (including M&E design and quality data collection)
Programs have access to timely and useful data for day-to-day programmatic planning and decision-making
Analysis and research is conducted to support in program improvements (including operation research, monitoring research and cost-efficiency analysis)
Support with timely, useful and clear information for evidence-based decision making (including provide support to connect the dots)
Support regional leadership in designing new programs and partnerships for exploration and evaluation
Ensure standards, systems and processes are setup for delivery of all functions (monitoring, analysis, research, information systems and quality data)
Intern Position Overview:
The intern will be a member of the MLE field operations unit responsible for IM Training, field monitoring, survey data collecting and direct monitoring of the DTWi program in Lagos State.
The person must be organized, systematic, data-driven and enjoy field activities (interviews, questionnaire administration etc.). S/he will work closely with other MLE teams to ensure data is collected and used as per the standard operating procedures while adhering to set the timeline.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
The key tasks the Intern will work on includes:
Support training and deployment of Independent Monitors: Evidence Action contracts independent monitoring firms to implement its PMCV strategy in the south- west region. The role involves supporting IM training as needed, which may include administering training assessment sheets to evaluate adherence to training protocols and standards.
Support Treatment Data Reporting: Collaborate with the MLE associate to provide technical assistance to the Lagos State NTD department in reporting treatment data on the approved platform or database post-MDA. This includes reviewing data entered on DHIS2 / google sheets and identifying errors for follow-up.
Support Data Validation and Verification: Review data submitted by independent monitors during data collection for completeness and accuracy. Support back-check activities, in-field supervision, survey data cleaning, and data quality assurance during verification field visits for both treatment and survey data.
Survey Testing: Lead the testing of digitized survey tools and provide feedback on observed inconsistencies for resolution. Ensure surveys are pre-installed on the required number of mobile devices before fieldwork.
State Microplan Support: Review microplanning data shared by the state prior to MDA, provide technical assistance to key state staff during data entry, and communicate any challenges to the MLE associate for resolution.
Support Preparatory Activities for PMCV: Review materials and documents needed for training and process monitoring, including questionnaires, supervision checklists, field and school reach confirmation forms, and PMCV Checklist.
Data Visualization and Mapping: Collaborate with the PDM to develop infographics and maps illustrating progress and achievements during field activities. These data products will be shared with IM firms during fieldwork and relevant stakeholders during review meetings in Lagos State.
Report Writing: Support the development and review of activity reports, PMCV slides detailing findings, meeting notes, daily tracker updates during activities, and reporting of key performance indicators.
Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree / HND in Economics / Statistics / Public Health / Social Works any other quantitative field.
Knowledge of data collection, management and analysis tools such as Survey CTO, DHIS, Stata, R, Excel etc.
Basis knowledge of monitoring and evaluation fundamentals
Basic experience with data collection, data management and/or analysis
Knowledge of DQA techniques.
High level of competency developing powerpoint presentations and presenting them
Strong interpersonal and communications skills to work effectively with a team that is geographically dispersed
Self-directed/self-motivating personality, with ability to adhere to program deadlines and priorities
Strong critical and analytical thinking skills
Familiarity of geospatial analysis in ArcGIS/QGIS and mobile phone survey will be an added advantage
Intellectual flexibility and willingness to form and adjust opinions based on evidence
Have a strong commitment to evidence-based practice and data management as well as analysis skills
Be enthusiastic to develop personally and professionally as part of a growing team
Possess a strong attention to detail and a genuine love of working with data
