Egbin Power Plc. Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.
Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

Job Title: Senior Chemical Process Engineer

Job Summary
Manages chemical treatment activities, operations of the condensate polishing plant, demineralization plant, water treatment plant and estate water booster for the shift.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises chemical operations activities for designated shifts.
Takes key decisions for designated shifts during operation.
Manage the demineralization plant operations
Ensure chemical treatment activities required for the demineralization of groundwater and treatment of water.
Carry out operations of the Demineralisation (Demin) plant, water treatment plant and Condensate Polishing Plant (CPP)
Provide direction and coordinate the activities of the Demin and CPP technicians
Ensure production and sufficient stocking of demineralized water for the units
Perform process improvement on chemical treatment of water
Monitoring and conditioning of the Boiler feed water.
Ensure sufficient availability & production of Demin water for the power generation units
Perform analysis of tests taken by chemical operations technicians
Put in service the water treatment plant and assist in carrying out regeneration activities.
Perform maintenance measures in the condensate polishing unit and online analysers
Supervise the high availability and reliability of the condensate polishing unit and online analysers
Perform regular testing and monitoring of water quality
Conducting water analysis tests such as hardness, alkalinity, PH, turbidity, chlorine residual, etc., for treatment process control
Perform analysis on online meters and reagents.
Conduct water analysis tests to ensure safety and water quality by collecting representative water samples and testing for contaminants and properties such as colour, odour, chlorine levels, nitrification, etc.
Perform regeneration activities.
Ensure adherence to safety, environment and other statutory guidelines
Prepare periodic reports for the attention of the Section Head, Chemical Process.
Constant monitoring of water consumption and water loss.
Calibration of laboratory chemical equipment.
Supervision of bulk chemical preparation.
Implement data protection policies and practices of Egbin Power Plc.
Ensure compliance with the NDPR and other data protection laws, and data protection policies.
Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessment as applicable to curb the risk during data processing operations
Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy and application of departmental objectives
Ensure awareness of the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 &45001:2018) and the implications of not conforming with the requirements.
Understand and identify hazards, risks, environmental aspects and Impacts as it is related to their jobs
Education and Work Experience
A University Degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
Relevant post-graduate degree or qualification.
Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience.
Skills and Competencies:
Knowledgeable experience in managing end-to-end water chemistry in a power plant.
Good laboratory techniques and practices.
Good analytical skills.
In-depth understanding of the cycle chemistry of a power plant
Knowledge of the power generation process.
Ability to draw relevant inferences for operations and maintenance from chemical analysis.
Knowledge of safe working procedures for chemical handling.
Good communication and management skills.
Problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of modern laboratory equipment.
