Job Title: School Accountant / Bursar

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Part-time

Job Description

• As the School Bursar, the job holder oversees the Accounting Unit and reports to the Board of Directors through the Auditor.

Duties

• Oversee the billing system to ensure timely and accurate dispatch ofbills toparents
• Timely generation and dispatch of termly bills
• Following up with parents for timely payment
• Maintaining accurate and up to date financial records for easy retrieval
• Payments reconciliation
• Imprest management
• Bank reconciliations
• Tax and pension remittance and reconciliation
• Submitting routine accounting reports
• Collaborate with other departments to improve the procedures that increase services to parents and as well strengthen the administrative operations

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields
• At least fiveyears’ work experience in a structured organization
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles
• Sound knowledge of tax and pension policies
• Expert in the use of Microsoft packages (especially Excel)
• Proactive with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to deploy technology in discharge of duties
• Knowledge and application of accounting software
• Good communication skills (Verbal and written)
• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
• Good with numbers, detail oriented
• Experience within school environment will be an added advantage
• Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy and confidentiality is required.
