Job Description
The Nutritionist will be exposed to different roles and workstreams within the organization. S/he will support all program activities and deliverables. This role will be responsible for leading nutrition activities and analysing primary and secondary data/ information, prepare and present draft reports.
This position generally requires an individual with exemplary experience, teamwork, strong verbal and written communication skills, strong data analytic skills and a passion for concrete impact in the health sector in Nigeria and beyond.
Responsibilities
Reporting to: Principal/Project Lead
Nutrition Education and Counselling:
Lead and conduct baseline assessments to identify nutritional gaps and challenges related to diabetes in the target communities.
Designing and delivering culturally sensitive and evidence-based nutrition education programs.
Providing individual and group nutritional counselling for individuals with diabetes and those at risk.
Collaborating with local healthcare facilities to integrate nutrition services into diabetes care programs.
Monitoring and evaluating the impact of nutrition interventions on the nutritional status and well-being of the target population.
Stakeholder Management:
Develops relationships with stakeholders and understands their different expectations; interfaces in conjunction with other team/HSDF members with external stakeholders.
Participates in providing ongoing thought partnership, knowledge transfer, and guidance to Partners.
Data Analytics:
Applies fundamentals of data systems (indicators, collection, collation, analysis, synthesis and
report generation, dissemination, feedback, corrective action, data management and storage).
Conducts desk reviews and executes analytical scenarios, draws insights and transforms raw data into useful information with sound assumptions.
Project/Program Execution:
Keeps up with program-specific trends and emerging practices and shares valuable insights with team members.
Executes tasks and end-to-end processes in an accurate, structured, well formatted output and effectively communicates content in set timelines.
Provides technical support for the attainment of program/project goals and objectives.
Liaises with team members to ensure quality implementation.
Supports in the development and execution of innovative ideas and approaches to strengthen the capacity of public sector entities.
Supports in the identification of barriers or gaps in program implementation and proffer solutions to address them.
Supports the team in managing reporting cycles and assist in the process of quantifying program outputs and evaluating progress towards program goals.
Prepares first drafts of project analytics, presentations and reports and presents with minimal errors.
Presents oral and written reports on projects or assigned tasks.
Research and Writing:
Provides support for drafting conference abstracts, posters, and manuscripts.
Support individuals and teams undertaking knowledge synthesis projects. Undertake other reasonable duties related to the job purpose as required.
Requirements
At least four (4)years of health-related work experience and experience in Nutrition program planning, analysis and presentation of statistical data.
A degree in Nutrition or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Proven experience in designing and implementing nutrition programs, preferably related to diabetes care and prevention.
In-depth knowledge of the nutritional aspects of diabetes, including dietary requirements and meal planning.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse communities including Northern Nigeria.
Ability to perform complex analytical studies and interpret the result.
Strong ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely (verbally and written) for a wide range of audiences (technical and non-technical) with differing needs.
Strong quantitative/ analytical skills e.g., Microsoft Excel and other statistical packages
Advanced report writing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) and strong organizational skills.
Collaborative work style, strong work ethic and good stakeholder management skills
Possesses the ability to think strategically and rapidly analyze, interpret and integrate data information from varied sources into clear conclusions and recommendations.
Must be able to take initiative where appropriate, proffer solutions to bottlenecks and challenges.
