Job Description
James Hope University is seeking dynamic and accomplished individuals to join our faculty as a Professors/Associate Professors/Assistant Professors of Labour Economics, Education Economics, Forensic Economics and/or Social Entrepreneurship in our esteemed Business School (JHBS). The successful candidate swill be responsible for conducting innovative research, delivering high-quality teaching, and contributing to the academic and intellectual life of the institution. These roles offer exciting opportunities to engage with students, collaborate with colleagues, and make meaningful contributions to the field of economics.
Responsibilities
Conduct impactful research on labour market dynamics, employment trends, wage determination, and labour market policies. Analyse labour market outcomes, such as unemployment, labour force participation, income inequality, and skill mismatch. And on Education systems, education financing, educational outcomes, and the economics of education, leading to publications in top-tier academic journals.
Teach and Design curriculum modules that cover courses on labour economics, human capital theory, and labour market policy at the graduate levels. Labour market institutions, labour market analysis methods, and policy implications. Incorporate case studies, empirical exercises, and policy debates to enhance student understanding of labour market dynamics and policy issues. education economics, education policy, and the economics of human capital.
Mentor and advise students, providing guidance and support in their academic and professional pursuits.
Contribute to the academic community through service activities, including committee work and participation in professional organizations.
Publish scholarly articles in academic journals, presenting original research findings and contributing to the theoretical and empirical literature in labour economics, Education economics and social entrepreneur.
Collaborate with government agencies, employers, and labour unions to assess labour market needs, develop labour market policies, and evaluate policy interventions. Engage with social entrepreneurs, impact investors, NGOs, and community organizations to address social and environmental challenges.
Qualifications
A Ph.D in Economics, Education or Social Economics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
A strong record of scholarly achievement, including publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the graduate levels.
Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and theories to diverse audiences.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative learning environment.
