Job Title: Curatorial Project Manager

About the Role
ART X is seeking a Curatorial Project Manager with 6-8 years’ experience, to join our dynamic team.
This role is ideal for a creative, visionary self-starter who harbours the desire to sustain a longterm career in the field of curation, and who also lives and breathes efficiency through expedient project management.
It presents an opportunity to contribute to ART X’s evolving role as a catalyst for the creative industry, and to the growth and success of African talent on the regional and global stage.
Key Responsibilities
Develop project management plans to execute the company’s curatorial strategy, in alignment with its mission and overarching goals
Serve as the principal coordinating liaison between the curatorial department, and other company departments including the events, marketing and operations departments, to ensure the seamless, effective execution of all plans
Support guest curators across all programming and curatorial initiatives, such as the ART X Prize, Art Across Borders, Special Projects, ART X Live!, ART X Talks and more, focusing especially on execution and production, with duties also including but not limited to research, content development, artist management, text editing, exhibition design and installation
Lead the design, planning and execution of community and educational programmes, ensuring alignment with core curatorial programming
Develop effective systems of measurement and evaluation (including training of exhibition personnel), to assess the impact of exhibitions, programmes and curatorial initiatives, producing detailed evaluations and reports
Member of the Exhibition Design team, with a proactive focus on the production and logistics schemes required to give effect to the design strategy
Supporting member of the Exhibitor Relations team, involved in the review and management of the fair’s exhibitors - this also includes supporting the Selection Committee and the Exhibition Design Committee
Support the Marketing, Events and other departments as required with programme and product design, proposal development, written and image content, and other specialised tasks
Grow the company’s relationships with artist and art practitioner communities within Nigeria, across Africa and beyond - collaborating with industry stakeholders to develop programming and curatorial initiatives, and identify meaningful gaps for the company
Stay abreast of industry developments and innovations, to ensure the company’s curatorial initiatives remain poignant and cutting-edge
Manage budgets, timelines, resources and administrative responsibilities effectively to ensure the timely and successful delivery of all projects.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is extremely creative, efficient and organised, with a stellar track record of art exhibition curation, production and delivery.
You are resilient, resourceful, flexible and able to roll up your sleeves to get the job done.
The ability to multitask, work calmly under pressure, and be a strong team player is also vital.
Key Requirements include:
6-8 years’ experience working in arts and culture
Proven track record of developing and producing exhibitions at the highest levels of creativity and innovation
Excellent knowledge of the visual arts and culture sectors, with an awareness of current trends
Extremely organised with strong project management and administration skills - able to multitask, manage your time well, and comfortable working to tight deadlines
Versatile and adaptable, capable of engaging diverse audiences
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
Strong interpersonal skills - you can build rapport with creatives and people of varied backgrounds, to get the best out of them
Proficient in InDesign, Google Docs / Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Dropbox, and cloud-based efficiency and project management tools.
Role Specification
This role is part-time and in-person, based in Lagos. However, interested persons based in a location compatible with GMT and WAT time zones and with flexibility to work from Lagos during critical periods, for stays lasting 2 to 3 months, may be considered.
