Job Description

• As a Telecom Planning and Design Engineer specializing in urban and regional planning, AutoCAD, and QGIS mapping, you will be responsible for designing and planning telecommunications infrastructure projects in urban and rural areas. You will collaborate with a team to ensure efficient network deployment and integration while adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine optimal locations for telecom infrastructure deployment.
• Design and draft detailed engineering plans using AutoCAD for telecom network installations, including fiber optics, towers, antennas, and equipment layouts.
• Develop comprehensive GIS (Geographic Information System) maps using QGIS for network planning, coverage analysis, and spatial data management.
• Collaborate with urban and regional planners to integrate telecom infrastructure projects with existing city and community plans.
• Ensure compliance with zoning regulations, environmental considerations, and safety standards during the planning and design phase.
• Provide technical expertise and support to project managers and field teams throughout the implementation process.
• Optimize network designs to maximize coverage, capacity, and efficiency while minimizing costs and environmental impact.
• Conduct feasibility studies and prepare cost estimates for proposed telecom projects.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to telecom planning and design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning, or a related field.
• Proven experience (2+ years) in telecom network planning and design, preferably in urban or regional settings.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for telecom infrastructure design and drafting.
• Strong knowledge of GIS software, particularly QGIS, for spatial analysis and mapping.
• Familiarity with urban and regional planning principles and regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Experience with telecom equipment and technologies (e.g., fiber optics, wireless networks) is a plus.
• Knowledge of environmental impact assessments and permitting processes is desirable.
