Job Title: Civil Foreman

Location: Yenagoa, Bayelsa
Employment Type: Contract

Position Overview

• The Civil Foreman plays a crucial role in overseeing construction activities and ensuring the efficient execution of civil engineering projects.
• This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and effective communication skills to coordinate with project teams and achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Coordination:

• Supervise and coordinate construction activities, including site preparation, earthwork, concrete work, and structural installations.
• Assign tasks to construction crews, subcontractors, and laborers, ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
• Monitor progress and productivity, addressing any issues or delays to maintain project momentum and meet deadlines.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Enforce compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and quality control procedures to ensure construction activities are conducted in accordance with industry standards.
• Conduct regular inspections of work sites and completed structures to identify defects, deficiencies, or safety hazards, and implement corrective measures as necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of construction activities, materials usage, and workforce attendance to support project documentation and reporting requirements.

Team Leadership and Training:

• Provide leadership and guidance to construction crews, motivating them to achieve high levels of performance and productivity.
• Train new employees on job responsibilities, safety protocols, and construction techniques, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.
• Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, communication, and mutual respect among project personnel.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Liaise with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to communicate project status, resolve technical issues, and facilitate efficient project coordination.
• Communicate project requirements, schedules, and safety protocols to construction crews and subcontractors, ensuring clear understanding and compliance.
• Participate in project meetings, providing input on construction progress, challenges, and potential solutions to support informed decision-making.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience as a Civil Foreman or similar role in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in project management software and MS Office applications.
• Certification in construction management or relevant field is preferred.
• Health and safety certification (e.g., OSHA) is an advantage.
