Hensard University is a unique private university licensed by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2023 and promoted by the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation (HSDF). Located in Toru-Orua, in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, it is the first private university in the State, established to pursue academic, research and entrepreneurial excellence, character formation, discipline, and commitment to service in line with the founder’s vision.

Hensard University will bridge the gaps between academic certifications, skills development, and the practical industrial application of knowledge for the development of society. The goal of combining academic excellence and participation in business management is for every Hensard student to graduate with the academic, personal training, discipline, and practical skills needed to meet the Hensard expectation that its graduates will not only be ready for the labor market but will also create jobs and be employers of labour.

Job Title: Provost of Medicine

Location: Yenagoa, Bayelsa

Role Description

• This is a full-time on-site role for a Provost of Medicine at Hensard University located in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
• The Provost of Medicine will be responsible for overseeing the academic departments, faculty members, and students of the College of Medicine, as well as designing and implementing academic programs, conducting research, and managing faculty staff and resources.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

• A Ph.D in Medicine or a related field
• At least 15 years experience in a leadership role in the academic or medical fields
• Experience in managing academic departments and faculty members.

Leadership and Management Skills:

• Strong leadership and management abilities
• Excellent organizational and planning skills
• Ability to manage people and resources effectively

Academic and Research Skills:

• A proven track record in academic and research excellence
• Experience in designing and implementing academic programs, courses, and curricula
• Ability to conduct and publish research in peer-reviewed journals

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
