A Mining and Exploration company located in Oyo state, Nigeria, is recruiting suitable candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Drill & Blast Engineer

Job Duties

• Develop, implement and review best practices for drilling and blasting activities with a focus on blast optimization, ensuring that all activities are carried out in strict conformance with company policies.
• Supervise large scale drill & blast drilling operations while maintaining an effective team, to achieve optimum operational performance ensuring project viability.
• Control and manage the operating budget, monitor daily performance and report on monthly progress to senior management.
• Manage all drilling and blasting activities including explosives magazine, consumables and stock control, and oversee blast optimization with a specific focus on fragmentation improvement.
• Produce drill and blast proposals and designs for operational and practical implementation based on the Long Term Mine Planning Engineer’s concept designs, and according to short-term scheduling requirements.
• Liaise with the Mine Planning Engineer to ensure the short-term plan meets the requirements of the budget and forecasts.
• Manage a safe and healthy work environment where workers and contractors can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment and keep environmental impact within statutory requirements to ensure compliance to statutory requirements is met.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Operational experience as a Blasting/Drilling Specialist within a Mining operations environment.
• 4-6 years’ experience in Production, Blasting Operations, mine planning & pit layout.
• Knowledge of blast vibration management is desirable.
• Drilling and blasting related software understanding.
