Ikore is supporting a client with a comprehensive market research initiative targeting the livestock vaccine value chain in three countries (Nigeria, Kenya, and Tanzania). The primary aim of this initiative is to devise a sustainable business model driven by the private sector, aimed at enhancing disease awareness and the adoption of vaccines. Within sub-Saharan Africa, our study will encompass a thorough examination of the current disease landscape, awareness levels, challenges in vaccine coverage, and potential remedies. This endeavor will entail desk research coupled with engagement with key stakeholders.

Job Title: Lead Researcher
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Key Responsibilities
Lead in gathering all current situation reports on disease awareness, and supply chain analysis, including distributor mapping and current market share in the resident country.
Provide a summary of the desk research to the lead consultant
Mapping out relevant stakeholders and their roles in the regulation and delivery of vaccines, such as Veterinary Services, industry players, regional bodies (e.g., ECOWAS, AU, WOAH, FAO), donors, NGOs, and multilateral organizations.
Engagement and facilitation of meetings with relevant stakeholders.
Identifying existing business models and gaps in awareness and vaccine coverage, as well as existing PPP models implemented for animal disease awareness, weaknesses, and opportunities
Support the development of evaluation protocol and lead the pretesting of the protocol in selected communities/districts.
Will be responsible for identifying and supervising their field staff.
Monitor field activity and report to the Project Manager.
Requirements
A minimum of First Degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Health, or any related Degree in Agriculture. A 2nd degree will be an added advantage.
Must have a good knowledge of the livestock sector within the country with special emphasis on vaccine coverage, vaccine supply chain, and community-based animal healthcare.
Demonstrable experience working in a research environment, including social research, mixed-methods research and supporting large-scale multi-stakeholder projects.
Strong communication skills, especially the ability to listen, understand requirements and translate them into a research framework.
Knowledge and experience of key research methodologies, and when they should be used.
Strong questionnaire design skills, to design high-quality questionnaires and advise others on best practice.
Experience working with external research consultancies.
The ability to deliver research that is unbiased, well-structured and answers a specific need.
Knowledge of commonly used research programs – including data analysis packages, such as SPSS.
Quantitative data analysis skills, including multivariate analysis.
Ability to understand and interrogate existing research data.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with academic and non-academic audiences.
A resident and National of Tanzania.
Have a good understanding of the geographical coverage of the country.
Knowledge and experience in research studies, and stakeholder engagement.
