Center for Advocacy, Transparency and Accountability Initiative (CATAI) is established in 2018 as registered NGO with Head Office in Maiduguri - Borno State, with offices across Yobe and Adamawa state. We have been visible in Borno Adamawa and Yobe states implementing projects in Education, Protection (Child /GBV), WaSH, Nutrition, Empowerment/Livelihood, Governance and Peace Building. Our approach is aligned with our mission to enhance services delivery and empower citizens, through our Humanitarian, Development, and peace building nexus (HDP).

Job Title: Safety and Security Focal Point

Job Description
The security focal person will establish and maintain effective communication with relevant stakeholders at the State and Local Government Area (LGA) levels to gather timely security updates.
Foster collaborative relationships with local authorities, community leaders, and security agencies to enhance information-sharing and promote a secure operating environment.
Key Responsibilities
Take the lead in reporting security incidents, particularly those that impact the areas of operation.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of security-related events, and collaborate with internal teams to address incidents appropriately.
Engage with staff to assess their comprehension of security procedures and protocols.
Provide advice and guidance to enhance staff awareness and adherence to security measures.
Conduct training sessions as needed to ensure staff readiness to respond to security challenges.
Conduct regular Security Risk Assessments, considering changes in the operating context.
Review and update security risk assessments to ensure they reflect current threats and vulnerabilities.
Monitor and evaluate compliance with established security procedures across all levels of the organization.
Provide recommendations for improvements in security protocols based on monitoring outcomes.
Review reported security incidents and analyze trends to inform decision-making.
Issue security advisories to relevant staff, outlining potential risks and recommended actions.
Provide daily and weekly communication of security incidents and risk assessments to relevant staff members.
Ensure that information is disseminated promptly and comprehensively to facilitate informed decision-making.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Security Management, Risk Management, or a related field.
Proven experience in security and risk management, especially in challenging environments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to conduct security risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
Knowledge of local security dynamics and networks.
Familiarity with relevant security protocols and procedures.
Preferably a former security force (military or paramilitary) but not required
Candidate must be willing to reside in Maiduguri upon resumption (if successful)
Good organizational skills, effective time management, ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize tasks
Sound cultural awareness and ability to work in a multicultural and multiethnic environment
Adaptability to the changing nature of humanitarian work and operational difficulties
Willingness to frequent field missions for assessments even on short notices
Careful attention to details
Critical thinker and possess problem problem-solving attitude
Very good communication and writing skills, in English, Hausa, and dialects (verbal and written)
Excellent responsiveness to email and phone requests
Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, internet browsers, smartphones and ICT in general. Ability to use Google Doc, Google Sheet would be a bonus.
