Job Title: Child Protection and Education Manager

Description
Functions / Day to day activities:
The day-to-day activities of the child protection and education manager for FRAD foundation are as follows:
Program planning and implementation:
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and refine child protection and education strategies and objectives for the FRAD Foundation.
Design and plan specific programs and interventions to address identified needs and priorities in FRAD.
Develop detailed work plans, budgets, and timelines for FRAD’s program implementation.
Program implementation and monitoring:
Oversee the day–to–day implementation of FRAD’s child protection and education programs, ensuring activities are carried out according to plan and within budget.
Provide guidance and support to FRAD’s staff and partners involved in program delivery.
Monitor program progress and performance, including data collection, analysis, and reporting on key indicators.
Identify challenges or issues that arise during implementation and take correct action as needed.
Staff supervision and support:
Supervise and support a team of child protection officers, educators, and support staff in the FRAD Foundation.
Conduct regular meetings, check-ins, and performance evaluations with FRAD’s staff to provide feedback, address concerns, and set goals.
Provide training and professional development opportunities to enhance staff capacity and skills.
Partnership and Networking:
Build and maintain partnerships for FRAD with government agencies, NGOs, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders involved in child protection and education.
Attend meetings, workshops, and events to network with potential partners and stay updated on relevant developments and opportunities.
Collaborate with partners to leverage resources, share best practices, and coordinate efforts to achieve common goals.
Advocacy and Awareness-raising:
Advocatefor policies and practices that promote children’s rights, safety, and access to quality education in line with our child safeguarding policy.
Engage with policymakers, media, and community leaders to raise awareness of child protection issues and mobilize support for relevant initiatives.
Develop and implement public awareness campaigns and educational materials to promote positive parenting practices and prevent child abuse and exploitation.
Data management and reporting:
Oversee the collection, analysis, and management of data related to child protection and education programs.
Prepare regular reports, presentations, and updates for internal and external stakeholders on FRAD’s program progress, outcomes, and impact.
Ensure data quality and integrity through regular monitoring and verification processes.
Quality assurance and compliance:
Ensure that FRAD’s child protection and education programs adhere to relevant legal, ethical, and professional standards.
Conduct periodic reviews and audits to assess program quality, compliance, and effectiveness.
Identify arrears for improvement and recommend changes to program design, implementation, or policies as needed.
Crises management and response:
Develop and implement protocols and procedures for responding to emergencies, crises, or incidents involving children.
Coordinate with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure a timely and appropriate response to child protection concerns or emergencies.
Provide support and guidance to FRAD’s staff and partners involved in crisis management and response efforts.
Qualifications / Experience / Skills – Minimum
Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in child protection, education, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
Thorough understanding of child protection principles, international conventions, and best practices.
Experience working with vulnerable populations, including children in crisis, refugees, and internally displaced persons.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. is required.
Ability to work under pressure and efficiently handle multiple tasks.
PSEA and Safeguarding certificate
Ability to work under own initiative or as a part of a team.
Experience working in a conflict environment is a plus.
Fluency in oral and written English is required.
Fluency in Hausa and one of the languages spoken in North-East Nigeria is preferable.
Qualifications / Experience / Skills (Preferred):
A Master’s degree in social work, education, child development, or a related field.
Performance measures: the performance of the Child Protection and Education Manager for FRAD Foundation will be measured using the following:
Reduction in incidents of child abuse and exploitation within FRAD Foundation.
Develop and implement comprehensive FRAD’s child protection policies, procedures, and protocols.
Ensure that child protection and education programs align with FRAD’s goals, values, and strategic objectives.
Review FRAD’s program documentation and reports to ensure compliance with legal and ethical guidelines.
Conduct regular assessments and reviews to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
Advocate for the rights and needs of children at local, national, and international levels.
