Egbin Power Plc Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.
Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Unit Head, High / Medium Voltage

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures all maintenance activities on high/medium voltage equipment are as planned, executed and properly documented.
Ensures all condition monitoring reports are planned and executed.
Advise the H.O.D and Section Head for onward transmission of issues found during maintenance activities to escalate to the Head of Maintenance for prompt action.
Periodically assess all staff under him for training needs for optimal performance.
Ensures availability of materials and tools required for the job.
Ensures strict compliance with all safety requirements during and off the job.
Review the reports of technical evaluation prepared by the reporting line.
Develop plant patrol and monitoring check sheets and review them periodically as necessary.
Ensures that daily Plant patrols and monitoring are carried out.
Provide support in spare parts planning, purchase and inspection activities.
Monitor and ensure that the Team Leads close out assigned jobs on IBM Maximo.
Adequately coordinate the activities of the Team Leads across all assets
Ensures monthly reports are prepared, reviewed and submitted within a stipulated period.
Reviews periodically all preventive maintenance plans.
Conduct performance reviews of line reports.
Coordinate the activities of the Team leads to ensure all Electrical functions are executed.
Awareness, understanding and application of Quality & HSE policies on assigned jobs.
Awareness, understanding and application of departmental /process objectives.
Awareness of your contribution to the effectiveness of the IMS, including the benefits of improved performance;
Awareness of the risks of not conforming to the EGBIN IMS requirements.
Notify the Section Head of any imminent risk and advise of mitigating factors.
Ensures monthly sectional learning sessions are planned and executed.
Advise the Head of a section about issues bordering on preventive maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Section Head & H.O.D.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering
A postgraduate degree or relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage.
Minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience with five (5) in a managerial or senior engineer role.
Must be registered with NSE for bachelor’s degree holders and NATE for HND holders.
Should be COREN registered.
Skills and Competencies:
Technical knowledge of all electrical systems.
Adequate knowledge of electrical equipment.
Knowledge of standard operating procedures of relevant electrical equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical faults with relevant electrical wiring diagrams or circuits to identify the root cause of faults to avoid future recurrence.
Knowledge of safety requirements and environmental aspects of the power industry.
Awareness of suppliers of materials and services for electrical maintenance.
Knowledge of power generation process, commercial e.g. tariff, value chain etc.
Knowledge of modern maintenance management practices and spare inventory management.
Knowledge of statutory guidelines related to electrical engineering practices.
Prepare a budget for electrical maintenance.
Knowledge and application of electrical codes and standards.
Basic Knowledge of other related engineering fields.
