Job Title: Well Operations Superintendent
Location: Lagos

Functionally Reports To: Drilling Manager
Supervises: Drilling Supervisors, Engineers, QA/QC and logistics personnel
Job Duties/Accountabilities
Tasks:
Supervise all well operations, ensuring they are safe and efficient.
Oversee interaction of service contractors in well design and operations.
Review well engineering plans and programs to ensure the objectives can be met and that the rig can efficiently and safely execute the program.
Determine future requirements for drilling equipment and consumables in line with technical work program and ensure they are available for wells planned.
Liaise with the logistic department to ensure effective movement of materials, equipment and personnel.
Liaise with other departments (e.g. production and facilities engineering) to discuss and organize concurrent operations to be done safely and efficiently
Obtain statutory approval for all well programs before commencement.
Check and sign invoices from service contractors.
Monitor implementation of drilling program and ensure compliance with well plans and achievement of agreed KPI’s.
Work with Drilling Contracts Analyst to ensure drilling/completions contracts are available for all equipment/services, and that the contracts are valid in terms of cost and time.
Review all well plans and ensure compliance with Well Delivery Process.
Ensure Challenge sessions, DWOP sessions, Prespud meetings, NPT and Lessons learnt meetings etc are held routinely before wells are drilled and afterwards, as applicable, and that lessons are transferred from well to well.
Hold operations meetings as required.
Accountably For:
Ensure operations meetings are held.
Ensure rig move plans are safe and efficient.
Complete execution of wells and that this is done in the most cost effective way, giving full consideration to all HSE aspects
Ensure all wells are executed in line with the Well Delivery Process.
Ensure well equipment proposed for drilling and completion are fit for purpose and available in time.
Ensure that wells are delivered within budgeted cost and time.
Lessons learnt are transferred from well to well.
Ensure all services are provided under approved contracts.
Ensure there is adequate logistics to deliver materials to the rig timely.
Key Performance Indicators / Performance Goals
Wells are executed in compliance with the well delivery process
HSSE standards maintained in all well programs.
Wells are drilled within budgeted cost and time.
Daily Drilling Reports are issued timely.
Proper records of NPT and lessons learnt are kept and transferred within the program.
Services are offered under contract.
Financial Dimensions:
Well Budgets of $150 - $200 million per year.
Job Specifications
Education:
Qualification BS Degree in Engineering (minimum) and/or recognised industry accreditation
Professional Qualification:
Member, Society of Petroleum Engineers. Member IADC. Attended industry courses in well engineering, well operations management, project management.
Experience: 20 years
Age: 45 years (minimum)
Primary Skills:
BS degree in Engineering (minimum) and/or recognised industry accreditation
Key Competencies Requirements:
Good technical knowledge of well planning and well operations supervision. Initiative to proffer solutions to technical problems.
Sound knowledge of IADC/API guidelines for well operations.
Managerial:
Excellent organisational skills is essential. Ability to supervise subordinates, make presentations and facilitate meetings.
Behavioural:
Good interpersonal and communications skills are essential.
Work Cycle (Hours/ Days):
Monday - Friday
(7.30 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.)
6.30 am – 5.00 pm daily while on duty. On call after office hours.
Rotation 28 days on duty and 28 days off duty.
