Description

• A master barber is a highly skilled and experienced professional in the field of barbering. The job description of a master barber typically includes a combination of technical expertise, customer service, and leadership responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

Hair Cutting and Styling:

• Demonstrating advanced proficiency in a wide range of haircutting and styling techniques.
• Providing personalized consultations to understand clients' preferences and recommending suitable hairstyles.

Shaving and Facial Hair Grooming:

• Performing traditional and modern shaving techniques, including straight razor shaves.
• Sculpting and grooming facial hair, such as beards and mustaches, with precision.

Client Interaction:

• Building strong relationships with clients through effective communication and active listening.
• Providing excellent customer service and ensuring client satisfaction.

Product Knowledge:

• Staying informed about the latest haircare and grooming products.
• Recommending and selling appropriate products to clients for home use.

Team Leadership:

• Mentoring and providing guidance to junior barbers or apprentices. This includes carefully creating and drafting courses and activities for apprentices ranging from day to day and month to month till graduation.
• Collaborating with staff to maintain a positive and cohesive working environment.

Sanitation and Safety:

• Adhering to strict hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Ensuring that all tools and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained.

Creativity:

• Demonstrating artistic and creative flair in hair design.
• Staying innovative and adaptable to create unique and personalized styles for clients.

Continuous Education:

• Keeping up to date with the latest trends, techniques, and industry developments.
• Attending workshops, seminars or training sessions to enhance skills.

Job Requirements

Education:

• Must have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

• Must have a practical experience of 10 years+ by working as a licensed barber and has built a strong foundation in the field to progress to the level of a master barber.

Barbering or Cosmetology School:

• Must have completed a state-approved barbering or cosmetology program. These programs often include both theoretical and practical training in haircutting, styling, shaving, and other grooming techniques.

Training Hours:

• Must have accumulated training that ranges from 1,000 to 2,000 hours.

Licensing Exam:

• Successfully pass the state licensing exam for barbers.

Customer Service Skills:

• Develop strong customer service and communication skills to effectively interact with clients and build a loyal customer base.

Professionalism:

• Must be able to exhibit professionalism in all aspects of the job, including punctuality, appearance, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Management Skills:

• Must have leadership skills to effectively manage a team of barbers and contribute to the success of the salon.
