The Taraba State University, Jalingo is a State University established in 2008 by the Taraba State Government. At the moment, the University runs 70 degree programmers across ten (10) faculties namely: Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Social Sciences.

The Job
The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the University is saddled with the responsibilities of all security situations in the University. The Chief Security Officer (CSO) shall:
Be answerable to the Vice-Chancellor for the day to day security situation of the University Campuses and property.
Ensures the protection of life and property on the University Campuses.
Ensure the monitoring and prevention of criminal and cult activities on the University Campuses and property.
Investigate crimes and writes situation reports and prevents trespass within the University and on any University property.
Oversees the production of Identity Cards for staff and students of the University.
Ensures the effective use of identity Cards at security check points to prevent crime on University Campuses.
Ensures that Identity Cards are issued to bona-fide members of the University community and same are retrieved/surrendered when the recipients cease to be members of the University community.
Assists in organizing and conducting training for subordinate security staff of the University.
Supervises and ensures adequate utilization of security officers provided by the security firm engaged by the University.!
Monitors security situations on University Campuses; educates the community on crime detection and prevention.
Writes and submit daily reports to the Vice-Chancellor copying the two DVCs and the Registrar.
Carries out any other relevant duty that may be assigned by superior officers.
Qualities and Qualifications
The applicant must:
Be a Degree / HND holder with relevant discipline in Social Sciences/Arts or equivalent.
Obtained relevant training in Security Service plus 15 years cognate experience.
Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police / SSS / NSCDC or equivalent in the armed forces.
Must demonstrate proactive ability and competence in management of civil security matters preferably in tertiary institutions of learning.
Tenure and Conditions of Service
The Chief Security Officer (CSO) shall hold office for period of Two (2) years but renewable based on performance.
The salary and conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Chief Security Officer (CSO) in Nigerian Universities.
