Head, Risk Management at a Composite Insurance Company

A composite Insurance company, with its head office located in Lagos State, is recruiting suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head, Risk Management

Location: Lagos
Level: Senior Management

Responsibilities
Technical Functions:

• Develop risk management framework and monitor risk maturity.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain the company's enterprise risk management processes for effective business operations.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within the company to understand their business objectives and the distinct risks to achieving these objectives.
• Stay abreast of internal and external developments that may impact the company's risk profile and make internal changes as appropriate.
• Plan and facilitate risk workshops to help the business identify its principal risks.
• Produce high-quality Executive and Board-level risk reports.
• Assist with the assessment of the company's principal risks and other risk-related content for the Group's Annual Report and Accounts.
• Provide advice on how to ensure risks are properly identified and evaluated, and appropriate controls are built in.
• Periodic assessment of adherence to risk management procedures.
• Establishing and quantifying the organization's 'risk appetite,' i.e., the level of risk we are prepared to accept.
• Corporate governance involving external risk reporting to stakeholders.
• Carrying out processes to limit risks and prepare for if things go wrong.
• Conducting audits of policy and compliance to standards, including liaison with internal and external auditors.

Supervisory Functions:

• Supervise team activities.
• Coach and mentor team members.
• Manage team performance.
• Assist team members in closing jobs.
• Manage operating cost vs budget.
• Appraise team performance.

Any other requirement as may become necessary.

Educational Qualifications

• Minimum Academic Qualification of B.Sc in Insurance or other related courses.
• Professional Qualifications: Evidence of completion of requisite Professional qualification ACII is compulsory. MSc and Certifications in Risk Management will be an added advantage.

Years of Cognate Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years extensive experience in Risk Management.
• 3 years in a Senior Management role.
• A broad background in risk of a Composite Insurance Company.
• Self-starter, motivated, enthusiastic, and has excellent collaboration skills.
• Diverse risk management experience in Insurance or Financial services.

Age:

• Not older than 45 years of age.
